I've been working on my song and adding a bridge and rap parts in and have moved the chorus. Its got a style part allocated to it and it DOESN'T MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I hit "Generate and Play" or close and reopen etc it plays the allocated style for 2 bars then the remainder plays in another style frown Can anyone help? I'm fixing it up for a song competition and I can't move it in to my DAW until I can fix this frown boohooo! Please can anyone tell me what to do or why this is happening?

here's the old draft if anyone is curious ... the chorus just doesnt work without that style happening garrr

Atlantis,

I wonder if you have engaged a style change at a specific bar. Do any of your bar numbers have a red square around them?

Also, could it be that a B-style is coming into effect? (A-styles are shown by a blue part-marker, at the beginning of the bar, and B-styles are shown by a green part-marker.)

Lastly, are any of the tracks frozen? If they are, it's necessary to unfreeze them to get them to regenerate.

Hope one of these thoughts helps,
Noel

Hi Noel thanks for your thoughts.
no red boxes around any bar numbers. Several styles in use A, B, C and D. All styles work and have always worked perfectly until I've added some bars in then suddenly the final chorus which is a C style will only play for 2 bars, yet its clearly marked purple for C frown
No tracks are frozen.

I've tried so many things including copying and pasting a chorus with working C style from both earlier in this song and from an earlier version of this file (a different document) but still no luck. I've now started the whole song again and after a few goes managed to get it working but unfortunately, the RealTracks have not generated exactly the same in some parts of the song and now the new version doesnt sound as great as the old one did so I'd still like to fix this final C section chorus in my older file.

Sounds to me like the "freeze" is working against you. Yes, it keeps those tasty takes, but if you make any changes to the arrangement it does not allow them to go into effect.

You have to have the entire arrangement completed, then freeze. If you don't get the takes you want you have to work that out by unfreezing and regenerating until you do.

Hi Atlantis,

I agree with Dan. Since you had tracks sounding the way you wanted them, it sounds like freeze was involved somehow.

If you want to keep the old tracks, the only way around this that I can think of is to save the tracks you like as WAV files and then load them into a DAW.

I'd then completely regenerate the whole song and save the new tracks as well and also load them into the DAW.

Once I have everything in the DAW, I'd cut the original tracks where the bars were inserted and then splice in those bars from the new generation. It's time consuming but it will work.

Another option is simply to keep on generating the Realtracks individually until you get a generation that suits what you are doing.

Regards,
Noel

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
