Hi All,

I have bought a roland bk7m backing module and haev managed to link it up with my band in the box but no chord change seems to take place on the Roland. Has anyone successfully used BiaB with the roland unit and if so, are there any pointers you can give me to get me started quickly?

Thanks!

So nobody on this forum has used BK-7M and Band in a box? Anyone? I have been trying the whole weekend and can't figure it out.

Any help would be well received!

I have owned Ketron X4 before BK-7m,in this case it works sameway in Bk as in Ketron. You have to send in Biab chord message at midichannel 16. In Biab go => opt.=> preferences=>output ch. => output channel 16, velocity 1, output chords(v).Put the spot in soloist (soloist white the other red with the right key of the mouse. Rx channel must be 16 in BK.

If you can find somewhere Jay at Ketron helping ketron users (Using Biab with Ketron)i did'nt find it anymore. There is complete explanation for the use of Biab. It works both in Ketron and BK.

HOPE THIS POOR ENGLISH HELPS YOU!

I found the text for biab so I scanned it and here it is some text is for Ketron:

"Driving the Ketron With BIAB
Load any song set of chords into Band-ln-A-Box. Go to Opt. and click Preferences. Set Channel# to 16
Set velocity to a low number (I use 12) Set note range to 36-60
Leave # ticks before chord change to output on the default which is 40 Leave the Chord Types set to Complex Chords Click OK
Set the Ketron to receive MIDI time clock. (Highlight Clock in and select) Go to F6 MIDI and move F10 until you get to userl Clear everything except set Left to 16
Pluq the MIDI output of the computer to the KEYBOARD in of the Ketron. This is different.
Be sure under MIDI utility F10 that F6 is set to NO and IN/2 Comp is set to
Keyboard
Put on KeyStart
Choose a style and pick a BIAB song.
Turn off ali the instruments in BIAB except leave Soloist on. Pick the style you would li ke to try.
You can pick out different styles on the Ketron while the song is playing to see what you would like.
You can sit and play fills at the correct time.
Set your song chords so that you can use the intro and endings of the Ketron if you like. This takes a bit of planning but it is worth it.
This entire setup takes a bit of time and trouble, but if you learn to do it, you can do several songs at once and the tracks should be awesome. You can change variations and even styles in the middle of the song and the Ketron will respond at the tempo that the computer is sending.
Pian you fills etc and pian to have a few days where you donft need to break down your setup. You can generate a lot of cool arrangements for use if you are well prepared.
Have fun and let me know what you come up with."

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST: MIDI=> EDIT SYSTEM =>NTA => Channel 16 Rx ON, the other channels off.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
