Ran fairly well, but there a few flakey issues with this build that I did not have last year.

1. It keeps saying that my interface is set at a sample rate of 48,000, but it is not, it is at 44,100

2. Some error pop ups on the artist tracks.

3. A little midi issues where it was missing notes.

I will go thru the setup a bit more and see what shakes out.

Okay here is more information.

1. RB on my system will not load User Tracks.

2. It will crash if you click on undo for any generation of an RT

3. RT 2491 i believe Rockabilly piano generates improperly, it skips around and does not chain together properly, almost like it does not know which part to use to build a full track.

build 414 BiaB build 2 RB

I've been encountering some oddities too:

occasionally out of the blue on a project that has run before, I'll get the message that my sound card is not supported at the configured sample rate. But if I keep on keepin' on.. it works.

I tried exporting ANY kind of audio.. WAV, WMA and MP3 ... and couldn't get any of them to work reliably when I merged all audio and midi to a stereo audio track. It took forever, and the resulting file would not play or even open in any audio editor. But, I could export individual tracks fine... just not a mix of all tracks. (but I need to do that a lot)

Sometimes when I reopen a project that worked fine last time it was open, as the song plays, it starts pausing in longer increments until the PC locks up. I mentioned this problem about a year ago, and that was on a different computer. Resetting to factory settings does not fix it. The only thing that fixes it is removing all track plugins then reapplying them.

I'm really good at causing my own problems by doing things incorrectly... but I don't see how I could be inadvertently causing any of these 3 problems. Yet, others are posting songs created in 2015, so they must be able to export their mixes.

I have applied the most recent patches... maybe I should try reinstalling from hard drive then update the patches

I'm getting the same behavior here Robh.

If I haven't already generated a loop, and try to generate a user track, I get nothing. But if I've already generated a loop, thereafter every time I try to generate a user track it generates the last loop again.

Regarding UNDO... I get an access violation after undoing a generation of a real track... but then the track "undoes" and my machine is NOT locked up.

I completely reinstalled BIAB/RB from the new hard drive, then installed the latest updates, but it still won't generate user tracks.

Can anybody else verify?

Cannot play or render User Tracks. My problem has been that RT are played by MEE drivers but not ASIO. Not a great problem as I can use ASIO drivers for the major part of the developments.

well that's 3 people who can't generate user tracks in the latest build of RB.

I was going to ask for more verification from people who can't generate UT; but maybe a better question would be "is there anybody who CAN?"

OK,
new information:

there are 3 ways to access the GENERATE menu. The one on the tool bar and the one in the main menu produce the results described above.

But the GENERATE on the track's RIGHT CLICK menu works when I try to generate user tracks...

So maybe that's why it works for some people but not others... different people are using different ways to call up the generate menu

I posted in your other thread; it works here .. but I do tend to use right-click when available.

on a whim I installed to a different PC. Got the same results there:
The tracks right click worked but the toolbar and main menu generate option for user tracks didn't work as expected. I Either got nothing at all or the last loop that I generated.

just out of curiosity... have you tried the toolbar or main menu GENERATE ?

I can't tell from your reply whether you mean it works in all menus on your system, or whether you've only tested it on the tracks right click menu, and it worked there.

I can only attest to right-click.
I can't recall specifically using the menu path.
Habits; they influence use, results (and testing).
If your findings are correct (and I assume they are) this should have been caught in the testing stages.

/I can only claim to be partially to blame on this one..

Until tonight, I only ever used the GENERATE on the tool bar... and it worked during my earliest tests.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
