I was listening to the artist performances sets the other night and was very impressed. Now here is the question, can these be used in song bed like the RTs can, maybe added into a song and sliced and diced up the solos used with a current song project? Any one tinkered with this yet.

I think not. The performance tracks are fully audio recordings of a specific song. These are not real tracks. At least this is my understanding.... crazy

Not at all crazy.
Open the APT SGU and wma
got to start of Ending > Bar (F5) UserTracks > Ending Starts on this bar (4 bar ending) > Ok > Ok
Save As SGU choose Artist Track as Audio (Guitar, Soloist Country Boogie Sw 140 SGU & wav)
save in a Folder in bb\RealTracks\UserTracks\Guitar, Soloist Country Boogie Sw 140
you can change the Key and save it in same folder as Guitar, Soloist Country Boogie Sw 140 2 SGU & wav
but you can't stretch too much.

4. Drag & Drop "Country Boogie, Swing 8ths, 140bpm Melody.wma" into an empty track

You can open the tracks with any audio editor, so why not?

Open Sonar, for example..... import the track files...and slice, dice, and hit ti with melodyne to your heart's content.

I think that the tracks are not necessarily a song in that sense but are specific PATTERNS of chords in a given order. 1-4-5-etc..... So that RB & BB know where to find what they need in a given file.

I never listened to them all the way through in their raw form. I went in specifically to hear the key they were in. I've found that if you can use them in, or close to the original key, you will have less artifacts in the track later on and the instrument tends to sound "more real" because it's cleaner from having less processing needed to get it to the correct key for your song project.

This does look "crazy" to me. Is this all associated with the User track feature? Is that what is going on here?

SolidRock

that's very cool! Thanks for sharing!

Coincidentally, I tried something very similar yesterday. I had a song that is only one instrument (celtic harp). I opened it in ACW mode and mapped the tempo and chords. Then I saved it as an SGU file and WAV in the user tracks folder.

I'm pretty sure I did everything according to the instructions. I can load it as a user track, but I can't get it to generate any audio... and I'm wondering if the tempo map has something to do with it. The recording was very nuanced, not at a consistent tempo at all. RB may have choked on assigning a new tempo.

HAs anybody here successfully made a user track out of a tempo mapped SGU?

If you generate a midi track it will have the tempo map then open it Reaper along with the audio and you should be able to Quantize the audio.
Then back in RB remove the tempo map and drag the set tempo wav back in and the Save As SGU. .
I do that with multi track drums if the tempo is not out by much.

Set Project Tempo.
Create an Action Hotkey to move to next beat and insert Stretch Marker.
View show Master Track Alt+T.
Right click on Tempo points > select all
Right click on Tempo points > reset points to zero/center
Highlight from start to end.
Item > Snap Stretch Markers within time selection to grid.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
