Hi There,
Well, it's me again. Was going to quit at two, but still had one in the hopper, so to speak. This tune began as a jazz ballad and sort of morphed into a country/pop ballad. I replaced the original which has been re-recorded with a different country style and replaced audio harmonies with 2 violins and viola track.
I'll Just Keep On Loving You

I'll Just Keep On Loving You Lyric

I’ll Just keep on loving you.
I’ll love you with a love that’s true.
Even if stars should lose their glow,
even if the rivers forget to flow.
I’ll just keep on wanting you,
And when my life is through.
Just as long as you love me too
I’ll go through eternity loving you.

I’ll just keep on loving you
I’ll sing my songs to you.
Who cares if stars fall from the sky
You’ll be my always, I’ll be your reason why.
If you just keep loving me,
then when I cease to be.
I will wait for you patiently,
loving you through eternity.

If you keep on loving me
when I cease to be
I will wait for you patiently
loving you through eternity.

Loving you through eternity.

Hi, Carolyne.

Nice tune, and you're expressive as always.

I don't hear any clipping, but here's what I think I'm hearing.

The MIDI guitar sounds very... cheap? I think a "real" strummed guitar would give the track a bit more drive.

The harmonies sound synthetic, and distractingly so. I'm guessing you're using the vocal track to generate the harmonies. In general, it's better to use a neutrally sung melody line as the basis of the harmony track. That way, it has a bit more independence from the main vocal, and it sits in the background a bit better. Plus, you get less artifacts from the pitch shifting algorithm.

That said, it's a nice song, and the positives heavily outweigh the negatives I mentioned.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Okay, thanks, David. I'm hearing it as well, but had hoped I was wrong. I fixed the clipping with Audacity, but I knew I was pushing it with the harmonies. It came down to a case of me asking myself, "Who are you gonna believe, me or your lying ears"? (Laughing) I think I'll take it down and regroup. Thanks again, because I don't want to put out anything that sounds "cheap". Yikes!

When you find you need to make adjustments.... leave the old one in place until you replace it....then simply post in the thread that a new version is up as of "this post"......

I'll be waiting.........

Song has been changed. This one was a challenge for some reason. One of those situations where, every time you I'd fix one end, something on the other end would fall off. The link to song is on the original post, but I thought I should add it here for the convenience of anyone who wants to take a listen. Hope you like it, and thanks to the forum for the feedback regarding the original tune. Those audio harmonies seemed like a good idea at the time (Laughing). I think I need to tutorial.

Hi neighbor, really pretty song, and I always love your voice!! Just an opinion but I think this feels like a jazz song (a great one) with a country arrangement. The lyrics are also wonderful but sound like old classic jazz standard style. I would love to hear it done as a jazz tune. Always love to hear from you. Keep coming by! Take care. Greg

Hello back to you neighbor,
Interesting observation on your part because I actually recorded this as a jazz tune. But thought I would try something different. Testing the waters, but not sure where this song is going or how it will look when it get's there. Thanks, love the feedback.

Nice tune...didn't hear the original but
this one sounds good on our monitors.
We've also experimented around with
the country/jazz mashup with RealTracks.
If you cherry pick and splice up some
of the Brent Mason country RT's it can
result in a real country/jazz fusion sound
with his guitar.

As mentioned you have a great feel
for this genre.

OK... very nice.... smooth jazz.

I could place this into a smokey little hole in the wall jazz joint....in a movie.

Loved the guitar fills and playing behind the vocals...Everything else was in it's proper place. Bass, strings, drums, all in the groove.

Loved the modulations too.

Nice work.

Somewhere around 4:00 there's some conflict in the music that needs to be straightened out. One of the things about RT's is that they occasionally mess up and play something that doesn't fit...and that sounds like one of those times. The quick fix is to render that track a second time. Quite often the second one plays something totally different.

You will notice on the last song I did.... I have several real tracks rendered twice. That's the reason.

Loved your voice.. it's a great fit to this style of music. Only in a few places did I hear something less than perfect for the style. I'm especially sensitive to pitch and timing. As a result, I use melodyne on every vocal that comes through my studio no matter how good the singer..... because there's always something they didn't hit just right. On your vocal track, I would suggest a simple brush up here and there to get the notes on to the pitch. The low notes are the harder ones to hit with precision. The notes in your natural power range are perfect.

All in all, a totally enjoyable listen on this Saturday morning.... with my coffee.... and the sun coming up.

Carolyne, love your voice. Smooth and smoky. I really liked the modulations. I thought the guitar fills were a bit busy and could probably be pared down a bit without losing the great feel that they provide for the track. The mix sounds good and I enjoyed my time spent listening. Good Job! Tom

Carolyne,

You have a terrific voice. Always enjoy hearing you sing.
I like that you are "trying something new".
I agree with Tom that the guitar is too busy.
I would suggest replacing it with one of the background pedal steels. I think you would get closer to what you are looking for here...

Hi Herb,
Thanks for stopping by and taking a listen. Is there anything difficult or special technological knowledge required to use Melodyne with BIAB?

Tom and Janice,
Thanks for the comments. I haven't been able to sit and listen to all the songs. But your tune, I Don't Want To Hear You Say Goodbye, is killer! My kind of song. Arrangement, structure, vocal, lyric...all of it superb. Thank you.

I probably would not try to use Melodyne inside of BiaB.... You would want to use it in a full featured DAW of some sort. I use Sonar to mix and record my vocals.... Real Band is a DAW but I'm not using it for that purpose so I don't know how well it would work there either. I have never used BB or RB with plugs. That's not to say it couldn't be done.... I just spent 20 minutes trying to see if I could load ME into the PG products.... could not figure it out... maybe someone else who knows how to load VST's into PG could chime in and discuss how.... I'd like to know.... it didn't appear to be intuitive.

In Sonar, I can set up a vocal bus, drop my FX into it, Reverb, EQ, limiting...etc....and I still have the individual track empty FX bin where I can drop my Melodyne Editor plug into the track's bin as needed. What I then do in the track has little to no effect on the EQ of the track since that's all in the bus.... just the pitch correction happens in the track and when I apply the FX in the track... only the pitch correction gets "printed" to the track.

It's not as complicated as it sounds.... really.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
