Verse 1
When I was young, growing up... next to my daddy's knee...he would say to me
My son be good, do what you should always be, gentle in your ways..until' your dyin' days
Chances come and go, you never know who is keeping an eye, takin' notes, counting the votes, maybe it's just the boy and the moon.

Verse 2
So young so old, too wise, such a long time ago, just an ancient soul
As the years pass by relivin' that time , wondering where the clock has gone, fast like the Autobahn.
Chances come and go, you never know who is keeping an eye, takin' notes, counting the votes, maybe it's just a boy and the moon.

Chorus
I moved down to Tennessee.... can't see a thing but I know he's watchin me....maybe its just the boy and the moon.

Lead Solo

Verse 3
Times moved on... there's a boy and he's sitting right next to me, the apple fell close by the tree
I say son be good, do what you should, always be gentle in your ways..til' your dyin' days
Chances come and go, he'll never know who is keeping an eye, takin' notes, counting the votes, maybe it's just the boy and the moon.

Chorus and lead out
Now he moved on from Tennessee.... Will he ever know the eye's could be me....maybe its just the boy and the moon.

interesting song. I like it. Some unusual chord changes and a modulation right at the start. Modulations all over the place...

How exactly did you record the vocals?

The solo guitar was sweet.... love a tele with just a bit of grit.

Nice job on this, Earl. Welcome to the forum!

The tracks are nice...cool solos. The drums are a bit busy. For a song at this tempo, you might want to try removing a few of the part markers so you don't get quite so many drum rolls.

I like your vocal - very sincere. (It would be nice to see a lyric to follow along).

Enjoyed it. Looking forward to more..

+1, I agree with the drums being too busy. It is an unusual progression, but it works. I also am looking forward to more. Tom

Welcome to the forums!

This was a great listen. Although the drums MAY be a little busy they did not distract me from a great listen. If you do calm down the drummer don't do it too much and make the song boring!

Just my thoughts.

Love the title! Some interesting images and an overall nice feel. Herb's right that the music modulates all over the place. I think the modulations mostly work but there may be too many. It is a little hard for the listener to find the ground. Some really good stuff here. Enjoyable track! Take care. Greg

Hi Earl,

A very nice first song.
We agree with both Floyd (about the drums) and Herb.

Hi Earl! Welcome to the forum!

Since you described this song as an Americana type offering, considering the general consensus about the busy drums, I'd kinda like to hear this reposted as an acoustic number. Maybe even one of the bluegrass styles... I think acoustic would fit well enough to take a chance with it... especially given the popularity of bluegrass these days.

Put my name on the list of people who would like to see the lyrics posted. I find that if my brain is free from the added workload of discerning your lyrics, I can listen more attentively to the music. But if the lyrics aren't available, then I have to divert attention away from the music in order to get the words.

But what I was able to make out, I liked!

Hi Earl,

Great song, vocals, lyrics and slightly "different from the norm" chord progression.
My favourite parts though are undoubtedly the twangy Telecaster parts. Gorgeous sound and playing.
Congrats!

Thank you all who posted. At least I know I have more than just my wife who likes my stuff. Sorry for not posting lyrics...they are there now if interested.

Yes...drums a little busy, amazing how you don't hear things that are right before your eyes(ears).

Great lyrics Earl. Steel Guitar works well. Drum fills work well, (there sure are lots of them), and the solo fits perfectly.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
