hi to all smile
if you are using real drums as your drum track can you tell the real drums to add a fill as to where you want it and to play the same fill each time you want it to.
thanks tj

Hi TJ
your selected drum style, by default will play as sub-style A. Most have a sub-style B too.
Every place you want a Fill, highlight the Bar you want it before blue for A and green for B. If you go green (for B) remember that it will stay as B until you tell BB to go back to A by highlighting the next bar blue again.
AFAIK you will always get random fills from the RD styles 'library'.
What I have done in the past is,when it plays the certain fill I like at some point, is to Freeze the track, export it to RB , or your DAW, and do a cut and paste job on it, replacing any randoms you don't like with the one you do. Laborious, but it works.

RealDrums will play a fill leading up to and through each part marker.

[A part marker is made by clicking on the measure number. The part marker will show blue for an A substyle, and green for a B substyle that is generally busier or more energetic playing. Part markers that change colors often play a 'stronger' fill.]

[It is also possible now in version 2015 to use a part marker without having a drum fill.]

In RealDrums, you are hearing an actual musician play, so it is not exactly repeatable on command. However, if you use the Simpler' option and continue to regenerate, you may find that the fills are often similar. If it isn't what you want, you will have to take the song into a DAW and cut and paste.

{EDIT: good answer by sixchannel; beat me to it}

Yes.... part markers give you fills....

If you have a drum synth.... sometimes you can use it to create a fill that RD doesn't.

Also in a DAW..... copy and paste lets you create some cool things.

You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both.

The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

Yes and no.
AFAIC "Endings" are not one of the best features of BB.
You get a 4 bar ending BUT there are many ways of "cheating the system" to get it to do different.
What are you wanting to do?

Another manual option that's been discussed before is you can go to the folder of the realdrum itself and find some of the individual drum hits and do a manual drum fill if you're looking for an exact fill pattern. Find this in BB\Drums folder then the specific drum style folder of what you're using. When you open the .WMA or .WAV the main drum mix will be in the start of the file and individual hits at the end of the file.

Don't overlook Real Band. Noob's think it is somehow a simple throwaway DAW. Not so. It really is a Biab DAW and when you think about it that way, it's very cool. Years ago people would ask if there were some way to use Biab as a plugin in a DAW. That can't happen so they created RB. Not exactly a plugin but it has lots of Biab functions built in.

Start reading the RB forum.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
