Hi all. Did this about a year or so ago. Lost all the original files sorry. Written in Band in a Box and Real Tracks. Mixed with reaper. Vocals and fill myself. Rob https://soundcloud.com/ironbarkbob/a-piece-of-my-heartA piece of my heart. You gotta know there's gotta be reasons. Just like there is four seasons. Each one has a purpose there to be. For my life with you has a reason there to be. For you know there's gotta be answers. For a life of second chances. That's just the proper thing to do. For the only place that I wanna be is with you. Chorus You have piece of my heart where ever you go. And forever you'll know that I love you so. Fill For a life needs real purpose. And the dust that covers the surface. I need for something that is real. When I see your face I know just how you feel. I know at time Ive not been worthy. To heal a heart that's been hurting. Each road Ive traveled many times. I need to read much closer between the lines. Chorus You have piece of my heart where ever you go. And forever you'll know that I love you so.

Great to hear a ballad from you Rob. Demonstrates lots of versatility. Nice tune. The breaks work well to space the song, give it further dimension.

I really like this one for the most part. The vocals were good and I enjoyed the melody as well as the lyrics. I wasn't completely keen on the musical arrangement, starting with the cymbal crash at the opening of the song. I found the music enjoyable and easy to listen to but needing more dimension, seeming to be just along for the ride and not interwoven into the rest of the song. I do think overall, this is a very well written and strong song and my remarks are my first impressions so not necessarily suggesting any changes.

this one is my favourite of your songs so far. It represents your Elvis vibe best. Enjoyable listen.

Nicely done, Rob.
Really nice use of the banjo. All the instrumentation was good. And a good mix. Nice fill...
Good vocals and harmonies. Nice write. I like everything about this one.

Rob, This is very well sung and I really like the banjo. I do agree with Charlie about the opening cymbal crash. The same thing has happened to me several times. Now I take special care to get the crash out of the intro. The melody is very catchy and it is very well put together. Tom

I feel like I pulled into the parking lot of a bluegrass festival, got out, and heard Elvis singing. Now we've been to a lot of festivals and although a bit disconcerting at first we got into the groove and enjoyed the tune. It gave Janice "happy feet."

Hi Rob,
I had to chuckle over the rhyme between CHANCES and ANSWERS... in Oz it's a near perfect rhyme.. in the USA, not so much! I just love the way regional accents affect the song writing process!
You really have a great voice... reminiscent of Elvis... I'd guess you've been told that before.
Regarding this song, I really like the cadence. It would make a great live sing-along song. Do you perform live? If so, I'd be curious to hear how this goes over when you play it in front of an audience.
keep 'em coming!

keep 'em coming! Hi Pat. Thanks for your in depth observations. I really appreciate your regional accent comment, Ive never thought of that before. Yes I get compared to Elvis all the time and although its a flattering it can also be embarrassing. As young boy I was influenced by a lot of similar sounding artists and some not similar. Dean Martin,Roy Orbison,Burl Ives, Elvis,The Beatles,Ricky Nelson and Johnny Cash. I suppose their influence helped develop my style although I don't really try to sound like any of them. I haven't played live for about eight years and when I did I rarely performed my own songs. At this stage I have no real ambition to play live. Thank you Pat for your excellent questions and observations I really appreciate you thoughtful approach. Rob

Rob,
I look forward to hearing every song you record as I know each one will be somehow different from the last but still an enjoyable listen.
I think the harmony shines the brightest on this one. Unusual rhythm that works well with the cadence you use to sing the song.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
