Hi All,

Here's something new - this is called Echo.

All BIAB - mixed in GarageBand.

Thanks for listening!

Hi Bob,

Very well done with this song I liked it a lot.

Please don't take offence with my next question as it's meant for my education.

Which type of plugin for vocals do you use, as your vocals from past to present have a marked difference in presentation.

Regards

George

George,

Thanks for listening and commenting. Are my vocals better or worse? LOL! smile Actually, my setup has not changed that much over the past few years - I use a Blue Yeti Pro mic for all my vocals. I record them straight into GarageBand and then apply an Ozone layer to the overall song when finished. I'm pretty simple about the engineering aspect of things.

Let me know if that helps.

Robert,

I liked this quite a bit! It fits your customary delivery that includes the nicely formatted page and crystal clear mix!

I especially like the way you structure your lyrics in recurring patterns:
"I was looking..."
"I was peering..."
"I was walking..."
"I was reading..."

"There are things..."
"there are times..."
"There are nights..."

"I can see..."
"I can speak..."

It takes effort to take an idea then build all that symmetry in, but in my opinion, the final effect is so much more polished when the song writer does it!

Polish is what you do, Robert! On this forum you are the king of presentation!

You really nail these introspective
type tunes by striking a balance
that is both personal and yet
accessible to the listener. That's
not an easy sweet spot to land
on but you seem to always manage
it.

And this song both lyrically, vocally,
and production wise is no exception
to the above.

Both us enjoyed it!

"I can speak about tomorrow
In some "sorta kinda" way
But I stumble through the words
And all the noise remains
Like an echo going round the room"

I really like that, Bob.

And this...
"I was reading an old letter
In the things you left behind
I was looking for something
I would clearly never find
I can see the paper fading
In the shadow of your pen
And I'm on the second page
So I may just start again
Like an echo going round the room"

A good write...

Terrific production and mix. Just the right build for an acoustic ensemble. Solid vocal.

Very enjoyable. Very solid.

the best folk songs are meaningful poems set to music.

I totally agree as the words could stand by themselves, with no music.

You have a signature sound and I enjoy all your stuff, keep 'em coming

To me your vocals sound better.

Thanks for the information about the Ozone Layer and the Blue Yeti.

You're a poet indeed. With maybe the most recognisable signature sound on the forum. I love what you do!

Take care

Cool song!! Your lyrics are always very thoughtful and interesting Bob. This had your signature latin percussion and it worked great. I would consider either a longer instrumental break between first 2 and last 2 verses with more musical departure, or changing the melody on the third verse. Really excellent work, as usual!! Take care. Greg

Hi, Bob.

Excellent write.

I thought the lyric of the final verse and ending lines were particularly effective.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
