Just wondering whether the version of SampleTank which comes with BIAB2014 can be run as a standalone application?
If so, are there any cautions or things to know to get it installed?

Could be. Just try it. IK Multimedia's web site is not specific on this topic: http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/sampletank3free/I see it the same as Kontakt by Native Instruments. It is a free player and you can procure instruments and sounds to be used with this player. You also may install and use the SampleTank instruments delivered by BIAB. (Be aware that SampleTank 2 Free is a 32-bit software, while SampleTank 3 Free is a 64-bit software. They are different. I don't know if SampleTank 3 Free can import SampleTank 2 instrument and use thems. The full program can.)

This is my experience.
I have ST2.5 and Amplitube as stand alones; however they want ASIO drivers and one of them (can't remember which) will NOT release ASIO thereby blocking use in other apps. That app then crashes.
I've been thinking of removing both stand alones; but haven't talked to IK as yet as to the procedure. I think I may have to reinstall and uncheck the stand alone??

The standalone's are simply the .exe's
"SampleTank 2.5.exe" in the "x:\...\Sampletank 2.5," and
and "AmpliTube 3.exe" in the "x:\...\Amplitube 3"
respectively.
That's it - all the other files in those and other folders are in common or needed by the respective DXi/VSTi
They are small 540 KB (ST) and 7MB (AT) and only get used if YOU invoke/call them up, so just don’t call them if you think they cause issues. I wouldn't uninstall everything then reinstall, and any issues that may cause, just to not use them.
FWIW in my use, I've have no issues with either one not releasing the ASIO and causing later crashes? (using Win 7 Pro 64). Also either or both can be configured to NOT use ASIO.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first?
