Hello. Somewhat of a newbie here. I can't find the answer anywhere, so I'm asking you guys. I'm using BiaB 2014.
I created a band from a selection of real tracks, and I'd like the same band to be available for different songs I load. However, I can't seem to save this "band." Saving a it as a style doesn't seem to work. Surely this is possible to do?
Any help appreciated!

Don't know about the Mac Version, but in the Windows version, there is a menu item under "Styles" called "Save Current Song As A Style". If the Mac version has that feature, you should then be able to save your current mix of instruments as a style and then select that style for other songs. Keep in mind that you will have to regenerate your StylePicker list to see that new style as a choice, or you can manually load that style file from disk. The help file says: Saves the style that is in use to the \bb folder with the parts that are currently selected. If, for example, a MIDI style has had RealTracks added, the RealTracks will be saved with the style and the style name will get an = sign prefix. So if you were to add an acoustic bass RealTracks to the ZZJAZZ style and save it with this feature, the name would change to =ZZJAZZ.STY. Press the [Rebuild] button in the StylePicker and the new style name will be added to the list of Other Styles. Let us know if it works for you.

Who Needs,
Welcome to the forum. It looks to me like the Mac version handles this a little differently. It is described on page 140 of the on-line manual (available under the BIAB help menu). Basically, you can set up your "band" with selected Real Tracks, then go into the "Styles" menu, select "Stylemaker". You can use the "Save" tab in the Stylemaker to give your "band" a name and it will be saved as a style you can use. As jford mentioned, you will need to select "Rebuild" in the style picker (at the bottom, on the left) to get your new style to show up. Good luck!

I never knew this was even possible on the Mac! So thank you very much indeed for that outline description. I will most definitely be trying this out, for I've wanted this feature a long time now.

I've tried this, several times. But it doesn't work properly. The "new" renamed style will save and it can be selected, (manually from the pulldown menu). But when selected, it always plays the old instruments that were "deleted".
Also, the style picker window doesn't update with the the "new" style, upon rebuild. The Renamed style can't be found that way.
I must admit that I'm miffed! PG has said that the Windows folks can do it, but that we Mac users can't. Get with it, PG!!!

I can confirm that, the proposed "workaround" just does not work at all. Shame, I had really got my hopes up for this one

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
