While looking for something else, I just discovered (!) that all the wav files that I have dragged and dropped into folders of my choosing have been duplicated in the folder bb/DragDrop. Dating back to when I bought this computer (Jan '13) . The folder contains 2200 files - 63G of space.... My process: I create a folder for each song that I work on. I open that folder in Windows Explorer so that it is the current folder (and is represented by a folder icon in the task bar). As I generate tracks that I want to use (or try), I add them to the folder by clicking the "track bar instrument" (along the top - does that have a better name - I never know what to call it...), dragging it to the folder icon in the task bar (which opens the folder) and dropping there. So all files relating to a song are in one place (so I can burn backup CDs when I am finished). Apparently these same files (wav) are added to the DragDrop folder under the main BIAB folder (C:/bb in my case). Question 1 - I assume it is okay to delete all of these duplicated wav files???? (is there some reason NOT to?) Question 2 - can that duplication process be turned off??? (Does it have a purpose? - I guess that is Q3...) Drag drop duplication delete do-able?

I think #2 is yes, but I have to check when I get back to BIAB. ANSWER: Yes. See next post but read on first.
HOWEVER
you might not want to do that. Some DAWS require the copy of the audio used in a project to remain there if you plan to open that project again. SONAR, as an example, does NOT do it that way. SONAR makes a copy of any drag 'n drop audio (or audio from any source) in the /Audio folder of the particular project's folder.
So, it depends. If you never plan to use the DAW projects with those files again, yes, you can delete the contents of that BIAB folder. If you have a DAW like SONAR that stores copies of audio files, yes, you can delete the contents of that BIAB folder.
Tell us what DAW you use.

In BIAB, click on the DAW Plugin icon and select Options for DAW Plugins. Second from the bottom is the checkbox you want. If you click on the description, you get further help, including the caution that you might not want to do this.
I'm pretty sure the checkbox is unchecked by default, so there may be many folks out there with a large collection of files just like you have. Worth checking out.
By the way, there is a great free utility to spot things like this: WinDirStat

Thanks, Matt.
I use Presonus Studio One Professional... but, as I said above, I drag the wavs into a folder (not directly into Studio One).

Right. It sounds like you can safely delete the BIAB folder files. Why not create a test file and delete that one file, and see if your Presonus project still works. It sounds like it will.

Huh. I've always just Rendered everything, which gives me more options and doesn't create anything in the DragDrop folder.

I use Studio One Professional and delete the files in my drag-drop folder on a regular basis and never had an issue within Studio One.
I suggest you follow Matt's good advice though, I'm only sharing my personal experience and may not be aware that a difference in our workflow may not have an adverse affect for your results.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
