Delighted to be part of this project with such respected artists. Joanne has fitted her harmonies so well into my phrasing. Thanks Joanne. https://soundcloud.com/tuigorge/district-sixDrums - RD Nashville even 8's Bass - RT 518 Pop Half Notes Guitar - RT 1037 Northern rock ballad Accordian - RT1757 Rhythm pop 8's Fiddle - RT594 Rhythm bluegrass Doc chops Hope you enjoy it. Cheers. District Six by Joanne Cooper I used to stay with granny in her home in District Six People came down to her stoep their problems would be fixed One day a girl came walking a toddler by her side Her face was blue and swollen granny listened as she cried Why don’t you leave why don’t you go It’s no use staying on Go back home to mum and dad They know where you are from Your whole life your whole life your whole life a-head Go back home to mum and dad Go back home she saidA year has passed the girl came back a smile from ear to ear Dressed just like a lady not a trace of fear She has a gift to give my gran carried on her back A sack of oranges with which to show her thanks Thank God you had the strength to leave It was no use staying on You went back home to mom and dad They knew where you’re from Your whole life your whole life your whole life a-head Went back home to mum and dad You went back home she saidWhen you can only see one road a-head There’s a pathway down the side Just ask you’ll be lead We make mistakes a wrong turn here it’s no use staying on Go back home to mom and dad They know where you are from Your whole life your whole life your whole life a-head Go back home to mum and dad Go back home she said

Richard/Joanne,
Another delightful entry. This was the perfect "RichMac song" - much like your writing - a vividly told story - and very personal...
A nice production for it - the accordion was nice!
Enjoyed it.

Another nice contribution to the project.
This will certainly be a widely diverse project.
Good work

Another very nice treat!! Great choice for RichMac. I was stunned how perfectly your voices blended with RichMac's folky Burl Ives course voice and Joann with the precise tight harmonies. Amazing job!! Take care. Greg

Like floyd said this is a perfect blend for you two -- lyrically and vocally. We enjoyed participating in this project and have had a blast hearing the others. And this song was produced and arrangement extremely well. Sounds great on my monitors.
Great collab!!!

Hi Rich and Joanne,
This is a cool blend of your vocals with their own distinct sound. Also shows this project's diversity. A cool song, with a beautiful bridge.

Thanks Floyd. I certainly enjoyed doing a version of Joanne's song. Didn't dare try the buzz bass though. Chuckle. Cheers.
Thanks Bob. Really got a buzz out of Joanne's harmonies
Thanks Noel. I have great respect for your comments. Cheers.
Hi Fred. Can't tell you how much I enjoyed this. Thanks. Cheers.
Hi Herb. Wonderful (and a little surprised) to be a part of this project. Cheers.
Hi Guenter. Ain't variety wonderful! Cheers.
Thanks Greg. I was surprised at how nicely our voices fitted also. Lucky for me. Cheers.
Jan and Bud. Thanks for the support. I also have enjoyed hearing all the different interpretations of Joanne's music. Am progressing slowly (I hope) with the production side of things.
Hi RnAM. Yes I hear that too. Our voices are still separate yet mix quite well. Joanne has some lovely songs. Cheers.
Thanks Dan. A wonderful bunch of comments. Cheers.

RichMac and Joanne,
I enjoy listening to feel good songs like this. I enjoyed hearing the story told in the song. RichMac you have the perfect voice for singing this song and Joanne's harmonies emphasized the chorus.

Thank you to all who have listened and especially to those who have also taken the time to comment. This rendition is completely unique and adds such variety to this set of songs. It was an absolute pleasure to work with you on this Rich and I am so glad you chose this song. It chokes me up every time I hear it.

First, as others have said, this is a song that fits RichMac so well. His interpretation and phrasing work so well. I also think Josie's build of the backing vocals add a lot to the production here. Excellent work by both of you.
This collaboration project has really showcased Josie's skill at not only songwriting, but what a statement for the forum members who participated either by choosing a song they felt would match up with their own unique style or Josie asking specific members to work on a song she thought would match up with.
This is a big project and quite a testament to the forum talent, camaraderie and skill with the Band in a Box suite of tools.
I think it would be great if PGMusic could find a way to gather all the songs of this project once it is complete so they would be in a User Showcase subset on the forum to be accessed as the complete set together. A PGMusic feature video showcasing the songs and styles much as the videos they release with each new version would also be something to consider.
Much as we hear on a PGMusic video touting RealTracks being real instruments being played by real musicians, how about: These are real people from all around the world, collaborating on real original songs binding it all together on the PGMusic Forum using the suite of Band in a Box/RealBand tools.
How cool would that be?

Thanks for the listen and comments Jim. Joanne's lyrics attracted me to this song. I also like stories. It has a wholesome feel. Cheers.
Thanks Rob. It got me checking out District Six on the internet. Cheers.
Thanks Alyn. I feel more comfortable with it than some of my own songs! Cheers.
You are very cool Joanne to tackle this epic project. Also sweet and sentimental... Cheers.
Thanks Charlie for checking it out and for such thoughtful comments. +1 for 'This is a big project and quite a testament to the forum talent, camaraderie and skill with the Band in a Box suite of tools.' Cheers.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
