Hello,
I have BIAB 2014 for Mac and have had a conversation about this issue with the live chat.
It appears one cannot choose how many rows are visible in 1 window (on the MAC). This results in a lot of rows on display with rather tiny chord symbols.
Making a screencast from this for example is really a bit pointless.
Maybe I am overlooking something, but if not, let us choose (on MAC) how many rows are displayed at a given time in the main window...

When you say 'Rows', presumably this is on the Chord Sheet? Does it shrink the Chord Sheet contents so that the entire song contents fits, and doesn't provide a vertical scroll bar? If so, +1
Oh, and Hugo, welcome to the Forum!

Hugo, With the PC version of the program, it's possible to change the number of rows per screen as well as the font and font size. These settings are found under "Preferences | Display" and are seen on the image below. #2, #3 = chords per row #5 = font and font size setting It might be that changing the font size will adjust your display and accomplish what you're after. It would be worth having a look through the Mac settings and seeing if there is something equivalent. Regards, Noel

I'm afraid the OP is right, on the mac there isn't even a specific "Display" tab within the prefs in the first place!

Oh, and Hugo, welcome to the Forum! Hello, Thanks, Yes that is what I mean, the number of bars visible in the chord sheet. Hugo

I'm afraid the OP is right, on the mac there isn't even a specific "Display" tab within the prefs in the first place! Indeed... And to add to the insult...There is now an "export video" function in BIAB 2015 (which I bought). But the number of rows displayed stay the same: 64 BARS!!!!! 64 bars from which in the case of a blues only 12 are occupied. Nice video! Please, PGmusic, give us the option to change the number of rows visible in the chord sheet, otherwise the export video function is quite pointless. Hugo

It seems the Mac version functions may sometimes lag the Windows version functions. Just be patient. Those features will probably be available for Mac's in the fullness of time, too. In the meantime, there are products that allow the Windows versions to run on Mac computers that could be useful.

I hope you realise you basically suggested we wear woman's clothing since the men's line isn't up to snuff yet, simply because that's still better than nothing p.s. And I hope you realise I could've gone for far more unpleasant analogies than that, and still be accurate. So please, let's just not go there.

In the meantime, there are products that allow the Windows versions to run on Mac computers that could be useful. No thanks, no Windows for me any more, especially not to run just one program. That said, I don't think the Mac version of BIAB lags behind that much any more. So all in all I am quite pleased with this version. Video export however is one of the features that made me pull the trigger to upgrade. I am a music teacher and this would be very useful for me. As a matter of fact, now being the youtube / Facebook age I NEED THIS. I kind of expected them to have changed the behavior (always showing 64 bars) together with the video export function). But no...Do they really think any Mac user is thrilled with the video export as it is? Hugo

I wasn't basically suggesting anything else but that. I was trying to be helpful, and certainly didn't expect the analogy or comments that have been used in the reply. I can't control the features availability of the different versions either. Enough said.

I was trying to be helpful, and certainly didn't expect the analogy or comments that have been used in the reply. I can't control the features availability of the different versions either. Enough said. You know, it rather saddens me when you say you "didn't expect" the analogy, for that suggests (at least to me) that you genuinely didn't see the parallels until after I alluded to them. Having said that, it also strengthens my believe I was right in knocking at it, if not but for that very reason. As for your helpful intentions - and I believe you when you say that, you genuinely thought you were doing that - except, I'm afraid the first half of what you said rather speaks against that statement (the bit I deliberately didn't quote in my initial reply). I mean, I'm sure you thought you were merely offering some explanatory insight on how things are and why, but well...when an 'explanation' is offered on an undesirable situation (especially without being asked for), it tends to translate into a justification. And even if you had been telling us anything new there (you weren't, at least not to me), then explainable doesn't equal acceptable. Then came the 'advice' to top it off - offering a "just use our tools and do like the mass do" is not a "workaround", it's a blatant disrespect for how things are at our side of the table! What made this even more unfortunate for you, is that I happened to be one of those who has heard the same line on tune on a much larger scale, hence my somewhat intense reactions. Final point: Of course I'm not holding you accountable for the way things are, I don't know where you got that one from - just don't defend it! Things are crappier at our end of the table, and we have every right to keep pointing that out and fight for it to improve. Nuff said?

Hello all,
What upset me the most is that I had to buy BIAB again when I switched to MAC...
Only to discover that the MAC version does not equal the Windows version.
I will in no way pay again to re-switch to BIAB for Windows again...The suggested workaround would cost me a respectable amount of Euro's...
I think however the Mac version is quite capable...apart for the worksheet version always containing 64 bars thingie...
I WILL put pressure on Pgmusic to get this resolved...mails to support, Facebook messages, youtube movies, message here etc...
It is simply not acceptable.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
