Anyone know what the answer is to this? BIAB is playing realtracks fine until I minimise it and then I get all kinds of scratch, drop out etc. I'm assuming it's a latency issue, but it's a real pain, because I can't set up stuff like streetjelly or checkout my virtual mixer. Does this mean we can only use BIAB live if it is full screen? Still trying to get loop back on the virtual mixer (sigh). About ready to give up and use mp3 recordings of my BIAB backing tracks (lol).

Can you tell us more about your computer, configuration, BiaB version, and settings? Can you run GeekBench test to see the performance of the computer, and report back?

Lambada, I stand to be corrected on this. My understanding is that usually when a program is minimised, the program that has been minimised uses background processing. This is not as vigorous as foreground processing. When one generates a song in BIAB, its first few bars are created and then the song begins playing while the remaining bars are being generated. This requires a lot of processor power and it could be what's causing your issue. To test this hypothesis out... ... try forcing BIAB to generate the song completely before it starts playing. To do this, enter into "Prefs | Realtracks" and deactivate the checkbox that I've put a blue cross beside (i.e. "Speed up generation of Realtracks").  See if that helps. If it doesn't, reactivate the checkbox. With this checkbox unticked, the song will completely generate before playing. It will take a little longer so I suggest waiting 20 seconds or so before minimising. Regards, Noel P.S. I've just seen Trevor's post above (seems that he was typing at the same time as me). Generation issues can occur on older machines as he has indicated.

Ok. I'll try this when I get back home. Sounds promising. I've got an Acer tablet using Windows 8.1. About 18 months old. Intel Core i5-3337U 1.8ghz . Nothing too flash but certainly not old! 4 gb ram. 64 bit

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
