hi Xperts, i'm a little lost: after selecting an midi patch (f.i a flute sound) on the melody track, , in my case using omnisynth, i can't get rid of it no' mo'. Selecting another patch later, or even no patch, still that first one keeps sounding, even when the display shows the new name correctly, ... Trumpet selected and named, or no_patch, that friggin' flute sound keeps bugging me (BIAB that is). Saving the song and reloading it does not help here even .... what's up? - F

Hi fiddler, It's good to see you again. Three possibilities spring to mind as I read your question. These are... 1. An audio file of the song exists. 2. A performance wav file of the Melody track exists. 3. The Melody track is frozen. To check #1... ...try muting the Melody track and then playing the song. If the flute sound persists then go to "Audio" on the uppermost menu and try muting the Audio track to see if that makes a difference. If it does, then an audio file is present and it can be removed by "killing" it under "Audio | Edit". To check #2... ...the track name should be orange is a performance wav/wma exists. If that's the case, simply right-click on the track name and select "Erase Performance Track" from the menu. To check #3... ...the track name will have an asterisk (e.g. Melody*). Right-click on the track name and select "Unfreeze track". After each of the above, regenerate the song. See if any of these thoughts help. Regards, Noel

Also try this:
At the very top menu, go to:
Notation > event list editor
You MAY find that a patch is embedded as midi code. Should be easy to delete using this editor.

Also, check the midi channel(s) in the .seq to see if there are duplicates.

Thanks for the tips, had a bizzi week with music without the friggin' computer, lucky me, why i did not respond earlier ... looked in to it now, cheched the suggestions and all seems OK, but what's the .seq file? BTW I now think it has to do with Omnisynth/sampletank not automatically loading the GM bank, and sticking to some old previously selected patch. Pity Hypersonic 2 is not updated anymore to 64bit, it used to work quite better. Regret buying Omnisynth, though the sounds are OK when it works LOL - F

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
