Hello
I changed some instruments in a song/ style and I try to save this combo as a new style.
I go to File->Stylemaker->Save Style As, and am saving the style with a new name in the styles folder. I am putting an underscore before the name since it is a real tracks style (tried it without too).
The style does not show in the stylepicker, even after updating the stylepicker.
If I browse on my drive to the styles folder and double click on the style, it is applied to the song, but with different instruments/ real tracks then the ones I have "saved".
What am I missing?
BIAB 2015 for Mac by the way.

No answer to my question there I make a song and load a style (real track style) I change some instruments in the style (real track instrument). As A test I also put together someabsurd choices here and also crazy levels in the mixer. Did it with "normal" choices and that made no difference. I Choose "File", then "Stylemaker", then "Save Style as". I save it in the styles folder in BIAB with a unique name like _Mystyle or _BADSTY (tried many different names). I run stylepicker and click "re-build" the list. My style is nowhere to be found... I close stylepicker. Other solution: To be shure in Realtracks preferences I uncheck "Auto Realtrack Substitution" To be shure I uncheck in preferences "load style with songs". I choose "new song". I put in a chord. I apply from the stylepicker an existing style with real tracks. I browse manually to the styles folder in the BIAB application folder and double click the style I created. "Something" happens, but not (really not) what I saved. What am I missing? Why is my style nowhere to be found in the stylepicker? Why are my choices not saved. Not only the real tracks are wrong but also the volume, reverb and panning...Everything... Hugo

In WinBB you have a Styles Menu
Save Current Song (except muted instruments) as a Style Saves the style that is in use to the \bb folder with the parts that are currently selected. If, for example, a MIDI style has had RealTracks added, the RealTracks will be saved with the style and the style name will get an = sign prefix. So if you were to add an acoustic bass RealTracks to the ZZJAZZ style and save it with this feature, the name would change to =ZZJAZZ.STY. It also saves MIDI SuperTracks and Hi-Q instruments (or other TGS files), and automatically calculates dB offsets based on volume, taking existing offsets into account. Press the [Rebuild] button in the StylePicker and the new style name will be added to the list of Other Styles.
In MacBB
Save Style As… This lets you save a new style or edited style, or rename an existing style.
Can you try
Edit Existing User Style Launches the StyleMaker with the current style selection loaded. This allows you to edit an existing style (*.Style) from disk. The resulting style can then be saved with the same name or a different name.

Save style Edit Existing User Style To no avail I save the style with some 140 bpm bass Terry clarke drums Some 140 bpm piano I set (a blank) song tempo to 110, 120 or whatever tempo. The saved style is NOT in the stylepicker, so I open and find the style on disk (in the BIAB/ styles folder). I double click: style changes....to Jazz Bebop Swing 190....WTF ****Sorry****couldn't help myself. Hugo

Where are you looking for it in StylePicker? In the Windows version, it should appear in the "Other Styles Found" category.
Also, can find the actual .STY file on your computer? Are you saving it to the main BIAB folder? Or in the BIAB/Styles folder? Only styles in one of those two folders will show up in the StylePicker.

I find the style on my computer (Finder/BIAB/styles). When I double click on the style. "Something" is applied, but not at all what I saved. Hugo

This is by the way a fresh install of Yosemite (new Macbook Pro, 2 or 3 weeks old), and a fresh install of BIAB 2015 for Mac everything pack, no upgrade over existing installation.

As a workaround, assuming the Mac version of StylePicker works similarly to Windows, you could create a "MyStyles.LS3" file in the BIAB file and see if that gets incorporated into the StylePicker. Band-in-a-Box will load in all of the .LS3 files that are in the \bb folder (in alphabetical order), and append them to the StylePicker list. Here is a link to more information about creating your own .LS3 files. Just a thought. Don't know if it works for the Mac or not, but hopefully it does.

If you haven't yet, then I think it's time to contact PGMusic directly.

If you haven't yet, then I think it's time to contact PGMusic directly. Hello, I did now. Their answer: saving a combination of realtracks with their mixer settings as a user style is not possible, it only works for midi styles... Hugo

I saved combos and styles all the time with the old Midi tracks. I have never been able to do this with Real Tracks, though.
So I asked PG about this (before 2015 Mac version came out). They told me that it can't be done with Mac, and that we should add this function to the wish list. They also said they'd pass the suggestion on to the tech people, and maybe it would be added for 2015.
I notice that this (very basic and necessary) function is still not available to us in the 2015 version. Hey guys... how about it?
I have to change instruments manually and save them for every song. What a slow way of working that is!
Its also misleading because the original style title still shows when the song loads, even though changes have been made.

One workaround is to use Templates. Change your instruments, and their parameters and then save that as Combo Template 1 (or whatever will help you know what that combo is).
When you want to apply that combo to "your song"... copy and paste your chord sheet from "your song" onto the Template, and save that as "your song".
You still have to set form... tags, endings, intros, or any other special info.
But if your template has the form already set, you can minimize that. (Standard 32 bar tunes for example, can fit right in to your template and be ready to go.)
I'm using that method, since PG hasn't given the Mac version the ability to save combos.

Template? Please define what you mean by that term.

I just saved a style on a Mac and didn't see it. So I rebuilt the styles. Just choose rebuild. make sure you pick all styles which will include third party styles such as yourself. Walla, there it is.

If it's not a typo, then there's the explanation for his problems. Too old version, plain & simple. Well spotted, Mr. Magoo

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
