I am still learning and ran into a problem. Trying a Patsy Cline tune (I Fall to Pieces) and there is a style for Patsy that works pretty well but there is a step down that goes E to Eb to D that is pretty important. If I put in E Eb D D in the bar it seems to work sometimes but sometimes not. Can you just regenerate that one bar till you get it right or is there a way to force it to play the chords?

You can not regenerate parts of tracks in BiaB, it's all or nothing. However you can in ReaBand. Realband has been included in the last few versions of BiaB so you should have it.

I do not use Realband but someone who does will be along soon and show you how it is accomplished.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Yes, this is a often requested addition to BIAB, but till then RB will do this nicely. Run "multiriffs" over the select track and selected bars in RB and you will see every option available in a realtrack.

Or try this in BIAB.... You can "freeze" all the tracks which sound good and regenerate only the rhythm track or bass track. Try putting in the bass or root notes as /chords to force the transition. This may get you what you want - Then Freeze the track so it don't change.

Hi pedwards2932,

Yes you can regenerate one bar in Real Band. I am new here also so I am just learning how to use Real Band myself.

To do this is not very hard to learn to do. Real Band will not provide an unlimited number of options to change the measure.

It may however do what you need done. I can show you how to do this and if you do not have Real Band or just can not figure it out I may be able to do it for you.

I need more information. What Real Track are you using now and what style and so on. Also I have no idea what time zone you live in. I live in Miami Florida, so I am around from noon EST until around midnight most day.

I just tried this regeneration function a few days ago. I will go see if I can find the instructions for how to do it and edit this post with the info.

Cheers,

Billy

Edit: First I am using Windows 7. Are you on a windows machine or Mac? On My machine I need to run Real Band as the admin. Open Real Band and load the file you saved for the song. High lite the measure in question. Right click, that opens a window, put your mouse on generate, that opens another window, select multi riff and that will will open a window with seven possible selections for a new riff.

If you know how to use a DAW this will seem pretty easy, if you do not know how to use a DAW this may seem a bit arcane. Just yell and we will help you.

There are other ways to get this done but require other software and a lot of experience.

Hope this helps.

I have the BIAB 2015 MegaPak and it came with Real Band. I have just been incorporating Real Tracks into BIAB and using styles so I think I need to investigate Real Band a bit closer. I have been watching the videos on creating backing tracks and most of them that I have seen use BIAB and then add Real Tracks. I thought when I was working with it last night that it seemed too difficult to get a specific chord change. When I used a Real Track guitar strum it seemed to follow the change better. I am on a windows machine and have used Cakewalk for years so your instructions are clear, I'll try them tonight.

Thanks for the help.

Cool pedwards2932 ,

Be aware of the Bold double bar line. The next part of the song may change strumming patterns or even notes...well I am not super clear on just how all that works yet...give me a few days and I will have it figured out.

The slow load issue...I don't know all the causes relating to that. I find BB very slow to render a track and Real Band takes a very long time to load up a song on my machine.

Sonar is very fast to do both...but I run Sonar on the SSD and BB and RB on a Raid0 drive (sata 7200 RPM WD enterprize) not a real fast drive to begin with. The striping helps but SSD is the bomb. When I get a bit of extra cash I will stripe two SSDs. Should be a rocket ship then.

Billy

Edit: I have found some strange notes being produced with Real Tracks guitar parts here and there...may be because I just don't know what I am doing yet.

I tried to work with Real Band first and I have another learning curve to get over.....there doesn't seem to be any video tutorials on it like there are with BIAB. I was able to create the song in BIAB and use a style that had Real Tracks and it really sounds pretty good. It would do the E - Eb - D transition with no problems.

Thanks for that I got what I needed from the video. I was able to create "I Fall to Pieces" in RB and it sounds pretty good. I am not sure it sounded any better than the one I did in BIAB because I used real tracks for it. I found that if I used the Patsy style there was something in the style that was giving me problems on the E Eb D step down. As soon as I picked a different style it worked fine. It looks like the with Real Band it would be pretty easy for me to add my own embellishments by just recording them in.....also looks like it is easier to render to mp3 which is what I am going to use for gigs.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
