Something a bit different from the first two.

I'm Not Dead Yet.

Lyrics
I’m not dead yet
Everything’s not said yet
I still cry, I still bleed, I still sweat
I’m not dead yet
Got a few things that I’d still like to do
Got a few things that I’d like to say to you
The measure of a man isn’t how high he stands
It’s what he does and what he understands
I’m not dead yet
All the songs are not sung yet
The day’s not done, the sun hasn’t set
I’m not dead yet
Got a lot of love that I still want to give
Got a lot of life that I still want to live
May not feel the slings and barbs the way I used to
May have changed my mind about some things that I held true
But I’m not dead yet
Still some things that I’m trying to forget
I know I smoked my last cigarette
But I’m not dead yet
I may like jazz these days more than rock and roll
May have swapped excess for self-control
But beauty moves me just as much as ever it did
And some days I still feel just like a little kid
Oh, I’m not dead yet
All the steps have not been danced ye
I still cry, I still bleed, I still sweat
I’m not dead yet

Hi Peter,

This is very well done, and very different and definitely original!
My compliments on this!

I haven't heard any of your other songs yet but I think this one is very good. Great production values, everything sits well in the mix and a great arangement. Not much to nitpick here. Thanks for the listen.

Hi Peter,

I agree. This is definitely different from the previous songs you've posted. One of the things that I personally like most about BIAB is that it makes writing in every genre a possibility. I thoroughly enjoyed the listen. The arrangement and the mix worked well on my system.

Highlights for me...

  • initial jazz setting and the relaxing/laid-back ambiance it created
  • the delayed introduction of drums
  • the blues/rock lead guitar interplay with the jazz backing
  • excellent lyric journey
  • excellent music journey
  • crisp and clean production

A top shelf musical treat.

All the best,
Noel

I read the lyric before listening and It took me a little while to get into the "I'm not dead yet" over the Jazz beat but I did get over it and then into it!i liked your guitar work too. Very tasteful statements.

"The measure of a man isn’t how high he stands

Great line of many.

Strong write, arrangement and production. Love
the vocals and the guitar (great tone). Janice
pointed out the "wooooah" Clapton like guitar
lick at 2:45. Sweet.

We like everything about this and look forward to
hearing it often on our SC playlist.

Very cool song!! Love that dark city club feel. Very well done in every aspect. Guitar playing is awesome. I'm not sure I would have doubled any of the vocal. Other than that, loved everything about it!! Take care. Greg

Who is Leon? He's good.

He writes the lyrics & sings (I've known him since i was 5 which is a long time ago!)
These days he emails me songs - tells me it's an acoustic folk song and I shouldn't play too much guitar (which I usually ignore).
He lives these days about 3 hours drive so every 6 months or so he leaves his wife comes up, we lock ourselves away and he sings for a day or so. I then spend time re-arranging the songs (which my wife obviously loves)and we use Dropbox these days for collaborating & demos etc).

Thanks to all for the comments (especially the Clapton one.

Peter - Loved this one. My mind's eye took me to a dark beatnik bar, with everyone wearing shades. grin

Great guitar tone and playing as well.

Bob

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
