A little morose ballad. Mostly BIAB, lost the original .sgu, so not sure which RT's. I apologize in advance for the clichés. https://90dbband.bandcamp.com/track/jenny-doesnt-live-here-anymoreJenny Doesn't Live Here Anymore ©2014 Robert Randall Burke/BMI Jenny doesn't live here anymore Left it all behind and closed the door She lost all the battles Then she won the war Jenny doesn't live here anymore. Some vows are written in the sand One wave erases all your plans What is forever If forever never comes? When will she ever understand? Somewhere the sun is shining Through a cloud with a silver lining On a world where she can be reborn. Who knows where love goes when it dies? When does indifference arise? Does it slip away in darkness Like a thief in the night? Who knows where love goes when it dies? Somewhere the sun is shining Through a cloud with a silver lining On a world where she can be reborn. Jenny doesn't live here anymore. Regards, Bob

"She lost all the battles Then she won the war "
"Some vows are written in the sand One wave erases all your plans"
This is an engaging write and the above lines really stuck with me. The arrangement and your vocal give an ethereal feel that really fits the lyric. Janice says she can picture her walking away through the fog. So....nice imagery!
We enjoyed listening.

"little" is not a word I would use to describe that.
It's huge!
Dig those strings throughout - and especially the "lead"...
Awesome vocal. (I like the big reverb).
A great listen. (and a cool title!)
Plan to enjoyed many listens...

Bob,
This is just fantastic! Really well done. Love the strings. Very reflective. Your vocals just keep getting better and better!
Love it.

Bob, I really like the write. The chord progression is perfect for this. Well sung and the production is spot on. Like Janice, I also see Jenny slipping away in the fog. Great job! Tom

I think this is your best to date.
Love your vocals - that reverb is outstanding!
Your lyrics are outstanding.
Super job on the chord changes and the strings.

Bob,
Beautifully sung. Very Rod Mckuen vibe for me. Loved the piano, those strings and "she lost all the battles and then she won the war" - really nice.

I agree with Janice and Bud these lines pop
"She lost all the battles Then she won the war "
"Some vows are written in the sand One wave erases all your plans"
Nice performance; thanks for sharing!

Very haunting and beautiful!!Greg +1 on that. There's nothing simple about this, but I very much like the simplicity of the arrangement, if that makes any sense:) Your delivery and presentation, vocally and musically, outstanding!

Hi there Bob.
Wow, that's some powerful reverb you've got working there. Fabulous big stereo wash over everything.
Back in the 80s there was this thing for "Concept" albums and somehow this sounds to me like it's part of a bigger project. Whatever. Did I say I liked it? Well I love it.
You really do produce some excellent stuff, Bob.
Cheers, ROG.

Great style! What is the instrument on the right? It sounds like a guitar, is it BIAB?

Wonderfully moody! Hey Lawrence, Thanks for listening. That guitar panned hard right is an acoustic 12 string. Unfortunately, I panned it a bit too hard - I find it annoying (as others probably do as well. ) Hope all is well with you. Regards, Bob

Rob & Anne-Marie,
Thanks for listening and the kind remarks. Credit for the violin solo goes to BIAB - all I did was add some counterpoint strings. Got to love this program!

Nice work. I enjoy your songs.
It has a Bruce Springsteen vibe to the vocals.... (huge compliment)...and for that matter, overall as well.

As others have mentioned, you've got some great lines in there.
I hesitate to mention it, but there's a glitch at 3:29 where the strings suddenly cut out for a moment.

I pulled the strings there to bring the choir up, but I can hear that as a glitch too. It's too darned abrupt. I'm surprised you didn't catch the warbling flutter in the piano track at the very beginning! Regards, Bob

I knew someone would hear it! (everyone probably did, but were too kind to mention it). I know - it's glaring. Problem was, a while ago I "backed up" a ton of files, and now I can't even find the original BIAB files! I've found that some of the solo piano tracks have artifacts, even without transposing. I ain't complaining. I can't play piano that well. Regards, Bob

Bob... you probably know this but.... in case you don't...
If it's possible to select a real track that is in the key of your song, that tends to sound better without artifacts from transposing. You simply go to the real track folder, and listen to determine the key.

Thanks for listening, and so critically. My pleasure! I'm surprised you didn't catch the warbling flutter in the piano track at the very beginning! To my ears, exposed RealTrack pianos are generally unusable, mostly because the transitions stick out like a sore thumb. It's really a shame, because there's some really awesome RTs. Add some drums, and you can generally hide the artifacts. But where there's solo piano, MIDI is generally the best option. Fortunately, people like you don't let minor stuff like that get in the way of creating good music.
