Picture yourself in a smoky jazz lounge listening to some cool jazz. Most jazz genres are being played from cool to bebop jazz. After a lively bebop song the band played this song.

JonD was over and wanted to do something slightly different. So after coming up with another non-typical chord progression we decided to use a waltz theme.

BiaB style = Jazz Waltz Ballad w ELGT (85RS)
The drums are MIDI and I modified them to better fit the song.
The bass is BASS-RT-926, Bass Acoustic Jazz Waltz, SW 085
(OMG the world is coming to an end - MarioD used a RT!)

I deleted everything else.

I am playing an alto sax sound via my wind controller and JonD is playing the piano part via his keyboard controller.

We hope you like it.

Very cool music Mario!! With a lot of your music, I think it would work great in a film. This one would be an excellent score piece. Very nicely conceived. The sax melody is beautiful, and the delivery is amazing. Thoroughly enjoyed this one!! Take care. Greg

Those drums sound pretty nice for MIDI! what soundfont/software synthesizer are you using?
You sure are good with that wind controller!

If you and JonD keep turning out tunes like this there is likely to be a revolution to bring back smoking in bars just so folks can come by and enjoy such authentic music in the environment it was intended to be heard in. It's a sin that such beauty is relegated to memories and movies today.

Thanx all for listening and the very nice comments.

RnAM - I am using Steven Slates Drums 4.0 Platinum:
http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SSDrums4Pl-e

If you wait they occasionally go on sale for $99 USD.

But to make any drum part snap, even RDs, I use CLA drum vst:
http://www.waves.com/plugins/cla-drums

They also go on sale. I bought it for $39 USD. I highly recommend this.

Charlie - I would love to see a revolution back to jazz lounges, but without the smoke!

Again thanx all!

Pretty darn cool Mario. Wish I could play like that! I could definitely picture myself in that smoke filled room. Good job!

Very sweet playing for a wind controller - you really know how to be expressive with it! I'd hang out in that club....

Mario,

I like that, nice to hear good music without your clothes reeking of smoke the next day. I have never been to a Jazz club as such but used to frequent Blues Clubs in London where you couldn't see the ceiling and everytime the door opened into the street a big plume of baccie smoke would appear as if the place was on fire!!!

The thing I like about BIAB is I use BASS-RT-926, Bass Acoustic Jazz Waltz, SW 085 a lot in my songs and our songs are WORLDS apart!!!

enjoyed

Alyn

Thanx JosieC, MWG and Gibson.

JosieC - I wish that I had a voice like yours so we are even!

MWG - I am still a novice on the wind controller, but I'm learning!

Alyn, I hear you about the smoke. I used to load up on asthma meds before and after each smoke filled room that I played in. I just wish there were some jazz lounges around here, they are all gone.

Hi Mario,

Good job man. This is right out of 1959. I really like the jazz of the late fifties. Miles Davis and many others.

The bass RT worked really well. The wind controller sounded cool!!

Cheers,

Billy

I agree, great chords and melody. I also thought your tone was spot on with the wind-controller. Nice vibrato effect.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
