[Link no longer valid]
I try not to post songs so close together in time, but this one fell together so I just let it happen.
I wrote this song in 2007 but I've never recorded it. At the time I wrote it I was convinced that I had moved on from her; but I know now that I never will. So many songs that I have written are about her...
As played on guitar the verses are in 6/4 on the up beat, and the chorus is 4/4. But I managed to work it out and record it in a reggae style with BIAB. (By some fit of manipulation and magic.)
Realtracks: 1153 Bass; ReggaeClassic^1 drums; 1154 Guitar; 587 Sax; 1156 Piano; 1155 Organ; 1949 piano; 1410 piano, synth; 2155 piano electric.
Tangle With Love (8-1-2007)
My heart is fine I tell ya, I’ll be all right yes sir It’s just another leg on, leg on life’s journey A wild ride not a, final destination I can’t hide from the, from the realization
I had a little tangle with love, I should Know by now I just can’t fool around with love I had a little tangle with love And it left me just a little confused
A heart unbound like a, like a rose petal A world unkind but I, no I won’t settle I’ll put myself out there, every time I will I will tare down, all the walls I build I had a little tangle with love, I should Know by now I just can’t fool around with love I had a little tangle with love And it left me more than a little confused
It’s not a story about redemption, it’s not a tale about sorrow or regret It may be a song about reflection, well I just don’t know yet
My heart is fine I tell ya, I’ll be alright yes sir It’s just another leg on, leg on life’s journey
I had a little tangle with love, I should Know by now I can’t fool around with love I had a little tangle with love But I can’t wait to tangle with love again

Different, and I really like it. Your vocals are spot on. I found the drums a bit disconcerting but I think that has more to do with the meter of the song than anything. The song seemed to have a Zak Brown vibe to me which is good thing.
Overall, one of my favorites from you so far.
Enjoyed my listen, a lot. Going back for more.

Hi Lawrence, That's a very good composition Lawrence. The Reggae style is quite refreshing! We appreciate you not wanting to post several songs close together in time ..... We're pretty sure the song's theme will resonate with lots of people. Rob is no stranger to this kind of song Anne-Marie

I like everything about this! Super vocals and backing tracks put it over the top for me! I really liked that Reggae feel this one has and the lyrics were absolutely great!
Great work here!

Hi Lawrence.
The backing is wonderful, but what's even better is your vocal performance.
What a great track and at the same time, refreshingly different.
Had to listen again.

Really, really nice! Sounds a little like Huey Lewis does Reggae. (That's a compliment.)
Thanks for sharing it!

Hey Lawrence,
Love this one. Gotta love da reggae. Everyting irie, mon! Like Steve, I'm hearing a Huey Lewis influence as well - which is a very good thing. Your voice is distinctive.

Bob

Hi Lawrence ...
Reviews are short since my stroke. Typing isn't easy at the movement. Agree with Steve about the Huey Lewis hint in your voice. Very nice indeed!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
