I've been off the grid quite a while due to various age-induced ailments afflicting my wife and I, but I'm glad to say I'm returning to normal a little now, and it's good to be back. I can see I have a lot of catching up to do! smile

This is a brand new song that my friend Richard provided superb lyrics for.
I sketched out the chords and melody, etc in BIAB using style _MI6SELC.STY at 115 bpm.
I just completed it and I think it's one of the best things I've ever done, but who knows, let's see how it goes in the big wide world!

Lyrics and notes, etc. here.
Video here.

John,

Good to see you back at it...(hope that you and your wife are both doing better...).

This is just as spectacular as all your other productions...

A great "sound". Very tasty arrangement - you are so good at adding subtleties... the little bits of guitar sprinkled among the organ and synth... nothing overplayed or overdone..

The vocals are exquisite. The whole mix blends the way it is supposed to (a couple of times the snare "stood out" just a tad - but then settled back in). The guitar work is sweet!

I don't usually watch videos - but yours have such a professional look to them - that last scene is disturbing...

I'll be listening to this a bunch more times.

Excellent work...

John,
WOW
That is up to your highly professional standard, the song is beautiful and the video matches the wonderful words so well.

Hope all your family' health is improving and stabilising. I currently know the prob also and too quote Dylan Thomas regarding that as I am in wales "The land of my fathers. My fathers can have it".

good to see you back
I have just watched the video again, incredible.

All the best

Very impressive! As a not-as-young-as-once person, I certainly appreciate the message in the song, and the arrangement is really stellar. Reminds me a bit of the tasteful side of UK progressive rock.

I followed the link back from Vimeo to listen to a couple more of your tunes and enjoyed them all very much. You are very much the complete producer. I will come back and listen again.

That is a stellar production -- both audio and video! I'll be 70
in a couple of months so I definitely "get" it. Mercifully my
younger wife believes that growing up is a trap smile

I've been noodling around with videos lately and your's has
truly humbled me. Your imagery is spot on for lyric support.
It never pulls you away from lyric...actually it pulls you
deeper and deeper into it.

The write, the vocals, the arrangement, the mix are all
indicative of the serious talent behind all of this.

Janice and I very much enjoyed the look and listen
and will be back for more.

Kudos!

Wow - an epic song. Sounds like it came straight off an album, with a bit of a David Gilmour vibe.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Hi john. So nice to have you back. I hope your wife is feeling better. Someone told me the other day "growing old is natural, growing up is optional". Or something like that! Wonderful song and wonderful images. Where did you find all that wonderful footage?
Production and everything is most excellent.

We're back for another listen and view of this extraordinary song.
Do yourself a favor and watch the video a couple of times. There's
so much support of the lyric. A clinic in how to make it all work
together.

This is an epic production!!! Song, arrangement, mix, and vocals are all top notch. Video is very cool too. Being a big fan of the British bands of yesteryear, I absolutely love this. I hear Pink Floyd, and Moody Blues in particular. Certainly one of the best productions I've heard on the forum!! Excellent work John. Take care. Greg

Thanks everyone for taking a listen, and the kind words. I'm glad the video enhanced things so much (cheers Janice and Bud!) - we spent a long time looking for just the right images to showcase the lyrics.

Until you mentioned it Greg I hadn't noticed the sub-conscious Moody Blues thing! I'm a product of being a teenager in England in the 60s so I suppose my influences were mostly forged there. The flavour is really 'Pink Blues' or 'Moody Floyd' then!

I also greatly appreciate the kind personal words guys.

John

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
