I play live with just the old Martin guitar and my chord sheets in two large books. I was in New Orleans some time back and saw this guy playing his accustic guitar in a club. He had a midi playing with lyrics and chords on a 7" monitor scrolling. He had a mini pc in a old speaker box hidden. He also had a light show and video on a large screen playing with the music. An awesome show. When he got a request he could find and do the song fast not like me looking through 200 pluss songs! Is there software/hardware that can do this for me? I need to see both the lyricks and chords becouse I can't remember them. Where can I find this? I like the midi file playing also!

The reason I asked was that to go from where you are to where you want to go, $500 ain't gonna do it. If you scale it down some, you might make some improvements.

Do you have BIAB?

I don't have to have the video playing, to keep down on the set up time but would like the rest. I have lights, pc, monitor amps, lots of guitars etc. I've been playing in bands for years!

Pity. If you did, you could use BIAB for what you want to do. You are aware that this forum is for: "Other PG Music Programs"?

What you want to do can be accomplished by various means, but were I you, I would seriously consider purchasing BIAB. There are several forum members who use BIAB live. It would allow you to load a MIDI file and play it through a good synth.

BIAB comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee, BTW.

Except for the light show, isn't this what BAIB does? I suspect the light show will be one of the 50 new features when BAIB 2016 is release shortly.

Thanks Bob, is there a video showing BIAB doing what I asked about? I'd sure like to see it. Lot and lots of stuff in BIAB I would never use and it would just look like it would be in the way! But I will still check it out. I'm looking for an easy to use program that I can use my .txt and midi files in. I want to copy paste my file into a program. I sure don't want to have to type almost 300 songs into a program. I would sure like to talk to someone who does live solo gigs like I do and uses it. I did find a very inexpensive ( under $500 ) program that seems to do all I'm looking for but not sure about the light show! It's called Showplay
http://www.showplay.com/
has anyone here used it? As far as money like most of you I have 1000's in music stuff. A $10,000 Martin guitar for starters. I just bought an $600.00 DigiTech Vocalist Live Pro plus lot and lot of guitars and amps. a rack of effect pedals that would choke a horse

I know I didn't like (band out side the box) LOL!
I got tired of temperamental drummers, bass player you could care less, keyboard player who wouldn't let me in edge wise!

I haven't used Showplay, but I did find a review of it:

http://www.solonode.com/2010/showplay-5-software-review/

That looks like it will do what you want to do. How do you intend to generate your MIDI? Onboard sound card?

I play in a duo, and this is the program I use:

http://www.mike-warren.net/digitalfakebook/

It won't handle MIDI, but will do MP3 and WAV. I use MP3's. Works flawlessly, and it's FREE! grin

I do cover and have always played in a cover band!
I've been checking out your music! Awesome songs!
Do you use BIAB to compose them?

The vast majority of the covers are BIAB-generated. A few are MIDI's that I've redone in Sonar. The original stuff is all BIAB. A big change from the old days, when I had to record each track live.

BIAB is an incredible program, especially if you're doing covers. It gives you a track that doesn't sound like a Karaoke track, yet gets pretty close to the original. On some things, like Classic Rock & Country, BIAB nails them.

Thanks for the kind remarks of our music.

Edit:

BIAB also has a feature called "Jukebox", that will also do what you're trying to do. I haven't used it, but others here have, like Pat Marr.

Regards,

Bob

Thanks for the info. Bob. I see you're from Florids. I'm in Louisiana but my nephew has written and composed all his own music, he lives in Florida. Check these guys out!

Not sure exactly what way you want to do it, using midi files for backing ?

Edit midi files ? mute instruments or lead ? add lyrics ?

Will throw out some ideas.

PowerTracks is a cheaper alternative to Biab if you are not gonna use all the stuff in Biab.
You can edit midi files in it, it will display chords/Lyrics.

Also Karakan you can add the lyrics with chords in them to your midi files.
You can also get midi files with the lyrics already in (.kar) if your midi files don't have lyrics.
You can also screen capture it to video to play on a media player.

There are also hardware karaoke midi/cdg CD/DVD/USB players on eBay, if you have edited the midi files to have the chords inside the lyrics.

As Trevor mentioned here http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=312802#Post312802

Then you can play the video files on a USB stick/SD Card plugged in a portable AC/DC DVD/USB LCD Media Player sitting on a sheet music stand plugged into your AC/DC Portable AMP, a bit more hardier and reliable than carrying around a PC or Laptop and you just use the little remote the quickly scroll to and play/pause the next song.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
