I recently upgraded to WIN 10 and PT 2015. I use a Juno DI keyboard/synth. Somehow,PT seems to have loaded a different patch file than before. Some sounds are the same (piano) and some completely different (brass). If I choose a brass instrument and plug my headphones directly into the Juno, the sounds are fine. When I listen through PT, they are different. Any suggestions? Thanks!
I'm assuming that you have set your MIDI output device, so that it will play your MIDI track from PowerTracks (and possibly your MIDI input device to create a MIDI track in the first place) as the Juno DI. But, how are you getting your audio from the keyboard back into PowerTracks, so that the output from the Juno plays back into PowerTracks (which will be an audio input, not MIDI, if you want the Juno sounds)?

I am using a device called Toneport UX1 as my ASIO. Would that affect midi playback ? So I found out that there was a program called Gearbox that is not supported in Windows 10. I removed it and restarted PT, same issue with brass sounds. I also disconnected the Toneport UX1 .The only ASIO drivers available are those that come with the Toneport UX1, so I can't run PT without it. It is my understanding that Gearbox is a software just to get different sounds out of the guitar. The Toneport is the hardware that I plug the guitar into to use the Gearbox software. I can run PT without gearbox but not without the Toneport. I suspect the Toneport ASIO drivers are the ones changing the mapping. If I get third party generic ASIO driver, with that solve the problem? Thanks again!
So, I'm going to assume then that you have your Juno keyboard plugged into a USB connection and your Toneport plugged into your USB connection.
So, in PowerTracks, you should set your MIDI output to the Juno keyboard (assuming those are the sounds you want) and you should set up your audio input as the Toneport (as if it were a the external soundcard). You would need to connect the audio output of the Juno to the audio input of the Toneport. That should allow the Juno sounds to be recorded by PowerTracks.
Also, make sure you don't have your MIDI set to use a DXi or VSTi softsynth; otherwise, that's going to over-ride the hardware settings and those will be the sounds you hear in PowerTracks.

Thanks so much for your advice! On the back of my Juno I have left and right outputs, and a headphone output. On my Toneport I have line input 1, line input 2, and stereo monitor in. What do I plug in where? I did have reroute to default synth CoyoteWT checked. How would that affect audio? Thanks!!
If reroute to default synth CoyoteWT is checked, then those are the sounds you'll hear in PowerTracks, not your Juno keyboard.
If you want your keyboard sounds to feed back into PowerTracks, you'll need to uncheck the default synth, set your synth to your Juno, plug your Juno L/R output to either the Line Input 1/2 or Stereo monitor in on the TonePort. Then select your Toneport as your incoming audio device (so you can record the sounds coming back from the Toneport).
Others more familiar with the TonePort and Juno may chime in, but it seems to me that that should work for you.

I was missing a cable from the Juno headphones output to the line input on the Toneport. It makes sense that there was no audio input from the Juno. I now understand that midi drivers and ASIO drivers operate independently and handle different things! It should have been obvious. Now I just have to get the Toneport drivers to load properly. I have spent HOURS trying to get that to work, with no avail. I keep getting a USB device not recognized when I plug the Toneport into the PC. But I know that is a problem if have to fix with Line 6 ( the company that makes the Toneport). Thanks again for all of your help. All this midi/ASIO stuff has been a steep learning curve for me!
I think problem solved. I unplugged the PC and rebooted - device then installed properly. I then rebooted with power and had the same problem. Tried a different USB cable and rebooted several times. Now seems to be working properly. Thanks so much John for all of your help. After several weeks I finally got my rig working again! Now back to trying to make music!

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
