my printer is on a win 10 pc which is on a home network (WORKGROUP) with a mac and a win 7 pc. whenever i try to install a network printer on the mac, it wants a UN & PW. what PW is it looking for? the only PW's i have ever set up is a login PW (which is the same for all 3). this PW doesn't work.
i'm a little confused: which one is requiring the PW - the win 10 pc or the mac. would this pw be in my mac keychain ? i had a similar issue with the two pc's requiring a pw b4 it would allow me to share files between them and i had to turn off the pw protected sharing on both of them. is there a way to turn off pw protected sharing on the mac, so that it will allow me to install a network printer on the mac ? any help app 5string

It is likely looking for the UN/PW for the Win 10 computer the printer is using as a print server. It wants to know that the user installing it belongs onm the print server, which in this case is also the computer.
I am using the new 1040XTRAEZ form this year. It has just 2 lines.

Sine you are installing on a Mac it might want a fully formed computer name, like //domainname/computername. Your Windows computer should have an account name on it, which is the username you have a password for. Short of that I think you are primed for a visit to the Apple store and see what they say. You are asking a Spanish speaking computer to speak Greek or French here.... more accurately, a Windows computer to speak OSX..... or on OSX computer to speak Windows.

Is the Win 10 computer turned on and logged in with the printer available?
/edit, I didn't fully read the question at first; most likely it is looking for the Win10 domain/username

Try putting in //computername/printername and see what happens.
Like on mine it's //sleepy/laser6. My computer's name is sleepy and the printer's shared name is laser6.

It probably wants you to log into the Homegroup.
The original PC that was used to set up your home network will definetly have the password but I think PCs added later also have the password stored in a manner that you can access it also. Try this:
Open the Homegroup by clicking on the start button, clicking on the control panel and then type Homegroup in the search box. Then click on Homegroup
Click on View or Print Password
This should do it if it's stored on the Windows 10 computer. The process should be similar on the windows 7 PC. You don't remember assigning the password because windows did it when you first set up the network.
Hope this helps.
Edit: I just read your post again and see that your Mac is already part of the Homegroup so that probably isn't the problem.

Can a Mac join a Windows Homegroup? Workgroup is his "domain" name though it really isn't a domain server.
Is this a wireless printer or is it connected to one of the Windows PCs? If it is a wireless printer this shouldn't even be happening. If it is connected by USB to a Windows 10 computer, then that computer is functioning as a print server, and it would more than likely be asking for your Windows un/pw so it knows Fivestring is a valid user on that computer.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
