Listening to Floyd's song Eyes reminded me of an old song title- which sounds nothing at all like Floyd's excellent new work. It does however use an old MIDI style as the basis of the song which I have not heard used recently.

https://soundcloud.com/peterf1957/she-burns-my-eyes

Style is WRLDROK2.STY (World Beat 2 - South African)

As usual Leon wrote the lyrics and sang whilst I sang harmonies and played guitar. Originally written in 1998 and updated in 2004.

Ok. There's a lot to like about this. First, it's a well written song with a good chord progression and melody. I love the lead guitar work, the vocals and harmonies.

No nits about what you've done here but I say that to say this; We all like steak but many times we vary in how we liked it prepared and cooked. It's your song and it's cooked to your liking. If it had been mine to do, I would likely have likely cooked it differently. It's simply a matter of taste. I don't want to imply that I did not enjoy it, not the case at all. I'm a traditionalist type and even hearing songs on the radio, I constantly 'hear' a different way to arrange a song from the way it was done by professional singers, producers and session players. That's why they are on the radio and I'm not....

Peter,
I enjoyed that, everything about it was excellent. Leon has knack for lyrics and a great voice.
Love the feel of the backing; ska but not really ska if you see what I mean.
Great guitar solo.

Good stuff

I really enjoyed this one! I especially enjoyed the clean sounding guitar leads as well as the vocals.

Good beat that had me tapping my toe. Interesting vocal effect. I like your guitar playing and it blended well with the rest of the instruments. Enjoyable!

Sounds like that one didn't quite hit the spot for you. Was quite an old one and a bit different to what we usually do. Anyway - maybe next time.

The style was supposed to have a South African feel. Glad you liked the guitar!

Thanks - Can't really remember much about the layering of the vocals - only have the rendered file the SONAR version got lost in the mists of time.

I actually enjoyed the song as you've done it but was trying to say albeit poorly, that this is one of those songs that to me would work just as well performed in other styles. A rock song that because of the chord progression and elements of the melody would be equally successful and as big of a hit if it were recorded as a country song. An example is Michael Buble's Home, a pop hit, that was also a very successful country hit for Blake Shelton.

Peter/Leon,

That is a fun listen. I liked it.

You're right - a unique style... well done. I especially liked the vocal break with just the congas... and the background mmmm's...

Terrific beat to this. Still in my head...

P/L, This was very different from what I was expecting. I also liked the vocal break and the guitars sound good. An enjoyable upbeat listen. Tom

I like the music and the beat/groove.

I have a hard time making the title fit the rest of the lyrics. She burns my eyes.. that sounds like a bad thing...... then you say She's so beautiful..... the phrases don't agree and my mind can't make the connection. Just how I heard it on first listen. And first listen is critical to most listeners.

The vox treatment.... layered thick and with harmony is out of character with the island feel of the groove.... it's more at home with a southern gospel group of 4 guys singing 4 part harmony on a gospel song.

The dichotomy between those things kinda have me feeling ambivalent on this. The music rocks.... excellent job on that. Simplify the vocal to a single track and rework the lyrics slightly and this would be out freaking standing.

Hi Peter. I think this is a real good pop song but not so keen on the vocal layering.
Wonder what it would sound like with a clean vocal? Enjoy Leon's voice though. Cheers.

Hi Peter,

What a great style! I love the driving bass. As others have said, this is a really well put together piece of music. I enjoyed it. The more I hear from you and Leon, the more impressed I become.

Great vibe and great energy!! Love that pumpin' bass. Your guitar works great with the boys in the band. Very nice tune-very catchy!! Out of curiosity, is the 1957 your birth year? That's mine, and apparently more people were born in the US then than any other year. Take care. Greg

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
