I går ringede en BIAB bruger til mig med et problem angående import af MIDI filer. Han havde tidligere brugt Windows versionen, men var gået over til Mac. Som de fleste nok ved, er der stadig forskel på udbuddet af funktioner i Windows- og Mac udgaven. Windows har lidt flere funktioner, - nogle lidt pjattede, mens andre kan være lidt svære at undvære.
Man kan bruge MIDI filer på forskellige måder i Band-in-a-Box. 1) Importer akkorder fra MIDI fil. Denne funktion findes både til Windows og til Mac. I Windows åbnes funktionen med Fil-Importer akkorder fra MIDI fil På Mac: File-Import-Import Chords from MIDI file. Disse kommandoer åbner nedenstående dialog. (se billede) Udfyld de forskellige felter (om nødvendigt) og se akkorderne i akkordskemaet.
2) Åbn MIDI fil I Windows Fil-Åbn MIdi fil. Vælg Midi. Nu åbner MIDI filen i Akkordarket. Akkorderne er vist. Stilarter er deaktiverede. Selve MIDIfilen er placeret i Melodi kanalen med alle spor. Man kan nu åbne sequenseren (det grønne ikon) som viser de brugte instrumenter. Man kan vælge at mute dem alle og aktivere stilarter eller man kan f.eks bruge nogle af instrumenterne (f.eks melodien) , - stadig med stilarten aktiveret.
Mac versionen har desværre ikke sequenser funktionen, men man kan vælge File-Import-Import Melody from MIDI file. Man får nu en dialog, hvor man kan vælge, hvilke instrumenter, man vil importere. Akkorderne bliver ikke oversat og man skal selv mute de andre instrumenter. Hvis man vælger flere instrumenter spiller de med samme lyd.
Jeg synes at Windows versionens Åbn MIDI funktion er meget brugbar og detr ville være en klar fordel at implementere den i næste års MAC version.

Hej Lindberg Du har vist ramt lige ind i et af mine problemer... Jeg sidder og bøvler med import af en melodi midifil ind i et musikstykke med 2/4 dels takter, og ken ikke få det til at ramme den rigtige takt. I min tidligere Windows version (nu arbejder jeg på MAC) mener jeg man kunne skubbe melodien en eller flere takter. Den funktion kan jeg (endnu ikke) ikke finde i Mac versionen. Jeg har chattet med Live Chat derovre, men han blev ganske stum og henviste mig til Tecnical Support. Nu spørger jeg dig, da du i flere tilfælde syntes at vide mere om BiaB end dem derovre på den anden side af dammen...
Du har ret. I Windows versionen er der en funktion, som hedder "Nudge Chords/Melody....". Denne funktion findes ikke i Mac udgaven. Både Windows og Mac udgaverne har en funktion, som hedder "Slide Tracks". Denne flytter kun nogle få ticks og er beregnet til at ændre fornemmelsen til mere "laid back" eller mere energisk fornemmelse ved at rykke et eller flere instrumenter nogle ticks frem eller tilbage.
Jeg tror du skal have fat et helt andet sted: Højreklik på akkordskemaet og vælg "Bar settings". Her har du bl.a. mulighed for at vælge hvor mange taktslag, der skal være i en takt. (# beats this bar). Prøv at finde takterne med 2/4 og brug denne menu. Jeg har erfaring for, at det ikke virker perfekt i alle stilarter.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
