Anyone in touch with Mac?

He's been gone for a long time, and I just hope he's OK.

I sent an e-mail and got no response.

Bob, my email remains unanswered too.

I understand that Bob C (aka flatpicker) has talked to Mac by phone and that he's in good health, just totally immersed in projects.

Mac and I go back a long way and were both involved in the early development of some music-related software. I really miss the guy and hope he'll check in again soon.

I'm nearly out of "eventually".

His brother said it has been a long recovery from his illness last year, that is all I know.
I just heard from his brother this morning. He also said he would pass along our concerns to Mac, so maybe he'll check in soon.
If you are the praying type it may help.

He'll probably be mad at me for saying the above, but he's the one that started the 'rharv's fault' thing anyway

I didn't know he was ill, but suspected as much. When you speak to Mac or his brother, let him know if there is anything I can do to help, let me know.

I'm sending 'positive vibes' out his way.

I remember Mac being hospitalized for a very rare flesh-eating virus that nearly killed him. He wasn't himself afterward.

@Mac, get back to us at least to let us know that you're okay, please. You are loved and frequently thought about.

I'm sure my email expressing concern from the forum was forwarded along.
Mac was never the type to pass along any woes, so I'm not surprised few knew.
If I hear anything more I'll pass it along.

/I knew Mac was hospitalized a few years back, but the flesh-eating part is new to me

Yeah, it was touch-and-go for awhile. I thought he was exiting the proverbial stage on us.

I suspected something was wrong, didn't know about the hospital.

All I know is Mac has always been a generous, helpful poster and when he dropped out of sight, I suspected an illness.

I'm simply concerned about him.

Funny how you get attached to people on line that you've never met and wouldn't recognize if they knocked on your door. You can tell a lot about a person by what he/she posts.

Anyway, if there is any way I can help, I'd be happy to help the guy who helped so many others.

My sentiments exactly, Bob!

I'd always start my day by reading the current Mac-isms. A very intelligent and multitalented man.

Gary isn't quite in the same category, as he checks in here and there, including last April. He is a terrific resource, especially for questions about MIDI synths.

My last knowledge of Gary, he had become deeply involved in R/C modeling and target shooting, two captivating hobbies. Russ and Guitarman were both stolen away by R/C modeling about that same time. Gary was also amid health struggles.

Mac had conversational knowledge about a very wide array of subjects as well as a gentle means of expressing them. I don't remember him hurting or flaming anyone with his obviously superior knowledge of a subject. Always the gentleman.

I think time has erased a bit of your memory. He had some famous fights with a number of folks in the forum. I guess time erases all.... crazy

He had fights with posters who belittled him and posted subtle racist comments. Some had issues about the large number of his posts also. Ray

Dan, I was one who enjoyed arguing with Mac.
I remember some racial attacks made upon him be the uninitiated that he quenched with his wit and superior logic and intellect.

Perhaps I should have said that he was too much a gentleman to let anyone pull him down to their level.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
