Hey Mario,

Thanks for passing through the thread. It's always good to see you.

Ahhh.... jazz blues... It's not a style that I've heard of before but it makes sense. I can see what you mean in relation to "June 10". Jazz is one of those interesting genres... it influences pretty much everything even if you don't want it to!

All the best,
Noel

Hi Noel.

A super blues with a jazz influence.

Loved the whole thing, especially the solo.

Cool.

Hi Alan and Di,

Sorry it's taken a while to get back to you. I have been incredibly busy in an unexpected way. Every time I think to myself, 'now I've got time...' something comes along and takes the window of opportunity away from me. So I'd better not say anything....

Thank you for visiting my thread. I'm grateful. I also see that you have a song posted. Cool!!!! I'd better go and find it and listen to it while I'm here at my computer.

All the best to you both,
Noel

Alyn

Hey Alyn,

Thanks for listening and commenting. Until Mario mentioned it, I'd never thought about blues and jazz being combined to create a hybrid genre. As I'm sitting here thinking, it seems to me that blues and jazz are a bit like that evergreen riddle, "Which came first, the chicken or the egg?" One can't have a chicken without an egg but then one can't have a chicken egg without a chicken... in exactly the same way, which came first, blues or jazz? Interesting puzzle.

Well, I'm sitting here in a 40 C (104 F) day, you're probably wrapped up in winter woollies.

I hope that you have a inspired Christmas,
Noel

Nice write, especially given the requirement to use a date! A very enjoyable listen.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Thanks Tom. I agree with the slide guitar track... it's definitely one of the challenging one to create a solo with. I used multiriff in Realband to generate multiple solos in addition to saving BIAB solos if they had a bar or two that I liked. That seemed to give me enough to work with.

Happy Christmas to you and all around you!

Love that line!

I like the write throughout.

Excellent band and an excellent mix. Nice energy in the vocal!

AS Tom said, Awesome job in getting that slide guy to pay attention to what he was doing!!! (not easy)

Well done!

floyd

Thanks floyd. I always like reading what you write. When I wrote these lyrics, I imagined the song's character sitting in front of a mirror talking to his reflection in an effort to try and understand why he was dumped.

When I tried the different perspectives with the lyrics, I found it difficult to choose which was best. The I/me/you perspective worked well but so did the you/she/her perspective. In the end, I decided to go with the point of view I began writing with.

I hope Christmas bring good things to your and your family,
Noël

You did a superb job with the RT's. And we definitely
pay attention to that stuff smile The slide couldn't be
any better -- it well complements the vocal.

And the vocal? "Novice" or not you have an instinctive
feel for the phrasing and the key is perfect.

We love musical surprises and this one was superb!

A tip of the fedora to you...

J&B

J&B,

I have a million miles to walk in the blues genre before I can even get a glimpse of your talent. Seriously! Thanks for that fedora tip, never had too many of those in my lifetime.

All the best to you both for Christmas and beyond.

Hi Josie,

It's always great to see you. Thanks for taking time and for having a listen. I'm a huge Michael Buble fan and listen to him regularly... it must have influenced my singing somehow! That would be great if it's the case smile I assure you (and Michael in case he ever reads this), it's entirely unintentional, though... all my concentration goes into trying to stay in tune!

Hope you have a wonderful Christmas.

All the best,
Noel

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
