Ozone (Izotrope) is offering their Vinyl plugin for free right now. It is super cool if you want to fiddle around with giving your songs a lo-fi effect. It has knobs that will allow you to get a vinyl sound from the 30s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80, 90s, 2000s. Hilarious. Highly recommended. Also will work great as a lo fi vocal effect I bet.

A LOT of fun.

That's very funny; my recordings have been lacking in warp and turntable rumble! cool

Thanks for the link.

I spent a lot of time recording to digital format, then cleaning up all that stuff from my vinyl record album collection (ticks, pops, warps, rumble, etc). And now you're telling me I have to put it all back? smile

No, it's meant to be used to get that old vinyl effect or simple radio sound as you may know.

It was actually released a while, and was canceled recently and know they released it.

You must have used your vinyl Zep II album as a Frisbee! My copy is still full-bodied (full frequency response) not squashed "telephone" mids only and has no "snap, crackle, or pops."

For those that forgot or never actually had vinyl (aka "records") it's not the record that has or induces wow/flutter/"rumble" it's the turntable. Yes clicks are from vinyl surface defects but those are mostly and mainly caused by mishandling, while pops are static and they are also caused by deck: poorly grounded and lack of "real-time" static drain during playback.

Ok Larry you have called me out into the open. I have a huge VINYL Collection and prefer it. As one guy in a long white pony tail in a nearby audiophile store that sells thousand dollar turntables told me, OF COURSE VINYL SOUNDS BETTER!!! It has 40 TIMES MORE MUSICAL INFORMATION. And then, WHY DO YOU THINK THEY CALL IT COMPACT DISC!!! IT'S ALL IN THE MIDDLE!!!!!!!

Ok, sir, I told him. I got it. I will take the new belt. Thank you. My Led Zep sounds great by the way. But here's the thing man: sitting on the couch, nice cup of Joe, 8 a.m., Abbey Road side Two on the turntable. What else can be better?

UNLESS--you are talking to me about a 4 track reel to reel. Now THAT my friend, is what I'm talking about.

Yes, that's why I included the smiley. It was a joke... Obviously fell flat frown

This guy with a long grey ponytail has 1070 vinyl albums. How many do you have?

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Not that many sir, but a lot.

I think the real question is though, how many Reel to reel Master Tapes do you have?

I have a bunch, but they have deteriorated over time .. as have other tape formats.
I'm not arguing original sound, but rather media longevity..
Digitizing these tapes much sooner would have been a good move for me. You may want to do so soon if it hasn't been done already.

I had a lot from the 60s and 70s but unfortunately they were not stored correctly and all is lost. The magnetic layers were pealing off and the hiss was very loud. I had to dump them all.

Hey Mario,

I keep mine in a dark, air conditioned closet and they seem to be o.k.

Sorry to hear about your tapes.

This guy with no ponytail (last I checked, you needed to have hair to make one smile ) has about 1600 vinyl records albums (and a decent turntable to go along with it), about 650 audio cassettes, and about 2200 CDs I have been busy digitizing the vinyl and cassettes, but it takes time. I actually have a fair amount of music on 7" and 10" reels, but alas my TEAC X1000 tape deck doesn't work (needs new motors and TEAC stopped making them), so they just sit for now. Luckily, most of what I have on reel is duplicated in the vinyl/cassette/CD collection.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
