I bought BIAB 2016 two weeks ago and cant get any music that im looking for, I generally play 50's 60's 70's rock n roll type music but cant find anything that is close to my needs, there are not many suitable drum tracks included and it seems i need to purchase add ons to get them, the reason i bought this was to make high quality mp3 backing tracks and im not interested in midi, any ideas please, how would i know if ive downloaded everything correctly?
I think BIAB is very good for those who like jazz big band and the crooner types as it seems biased towards these genres, myself i dont like any of those types of music.

dakes,

Welcome to the forum.

What package did you buy?

Band in A Box has heaps of music styles and tracks suitable for rock 'n' roll. Seeing that you mention buying add-ons, it sounds like you might have purchased one of the entry level deals. The UltraPlusPak is the first package that contains all Realtracks, Realdrums and Styles. Many people on the forums here find it the best value deal.

Regards,
Noel

I think it's a unconditional 30 day refund or upgrade if you are not happy,
some other companies offer a 1-2 warranty - once you got it it's too frickin late.
Try user tracks http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=75&page=1
they are free and only require a lovin thank you.

FWIW thats exactly the kind of music I play and use BIAB for.
Sounds like you have the basic ProPak or similar - please confirm. I have Ultrapluspak and there is NO shortage of 50's / 60s RTs (I try not to use midi). Plenty of Styles to go at - 12-8 Styles, Surf, R&R, Twist, Shuffle, Boogie etc etc. AND - if one isnt there that works for you specifically use Stylemaker to make one up from the thousands of RTs - thats what I do.
I DO think that BIAB is quite Jazz / Latin orientated but there is still a wealth of RTS that are NOT of those Genres. AND - some of the new "Crooner" RTs work very well in 50s/60's ballad tracks etc.
Hope That Helps
Ian

There are plenty of styles and Real tracks for what you want to do. Call PG Music and talk to them about what you need. They will make sure you are buying the right sets to do what you want, and you will find that the quality of service is outstanding.

Yes, welcome to the forums. As the others have asked, do let us know what package you purchased. There are certainly plenty of styles in the genre you are looking for, you might need a different package.

I'm not a big band/ jazz fan either....and crooner music? Yeah.... NO... I'd rather have a dental procedure without Novocaine.

What package did you buy and what are some of the songs and or bands you are trying to cover?

Knowing that, perhaps we can offer some advice.

I don't often do covers but when I do I'm always able to find styles that are really close and in some cases DEAD ON...

I did some CCR and a Mott the Hoople as well as Neil Young cover that were really close... the Mott song was dead on.

Once you know what BB/RB can do and learn it a bit, ANY style is within your grasp if you have the skills.

I would say that while you said you're not interested in MIDI, it can be an essential part of the song building process. I often use it for Bass, Piano, and strings when BB/RB don't play exactly what I need. SO when you need a signature lick in a cover, you gotta either play that part live or use MIDI. I did a song recently that needed a Dusty Hill ( ZZ Top ) bass line.... BB didn't have one that I could find that I liked so I used midi and a synth bass..... Nailed the groove in the song.

Some, but not all of the piano parts in this song http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=13107972 are me playing the midi parts.... BB/RB would not give me the simple part I needed at 3:22 to 3:54.

The higher the price point of the package, the more real tracks you get. I use the real tracks exclusively in the songs I write and record, of course, along with live parts where needed.

Since they really don't like covers on the forums, I can't link to any of those songs. But feel free to check out my music as well as other members music. There's some talented and innovative stuff going on here with BB.

They offer a 30 day MBG but I would spend some time with it first and perhaps move up the ladder a bit. I started somewhere in the middle but quickly realized I really needed the complete package to do what I wanted. IO have never regretted that decision.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
