Hello everybody,

I am new BIAB users with Band in a Box 2016 / RealBand 2016 (build 431) / Windows 7 - all Drivers are up to date. Maybe someone can help with my problem:

1) track of a song from BIAB be played in real band only with distortions, totally dirty and noise. The transfer pulling directly or via the drop box shows no errors.

If I transfer the same tracks to Cubase 8, I have a clear clean Import without noise and distortion. Also playing in Cubase is completely ok.

2) In these transmissions, I noticed that opening a second DAW the Asio driver can not be used from both Apps. Very unfortunate. I take care that realband has the Asio Driver during playing des Bad tracks. In the video from PG Music that looks so easy from where more than one DAC is open, maybe there's with you experienced users already solutions. On the net I found nothing .... except second different audio interface (which is obviously not appropriate).

Sorry for my bad english and thanks for any reply.

Greetings

Zetman

Hi Zetman,

Welcome to the forums.

Rather than transferring the song from BIAB to RB, try opening the BIAB file directly in Realband and see if it makes a difference. Realband reads and generates SGU/MGU files saved by BIAB.

Let us know the result.

Regards,
Noel

Hello Noel,

Thank you for the welcome and the reply. I forgot to write that i have opened the BiaB-File directly in Realband too. It was the same result.

I would have expect more a failure in Cubase than in Realband -(.

I tried a second Song too - same failure.

I think i will delete Realband and install new but could not imagine that i will help.

Btw... Noel you create impressive Songs....many ideas for Songwriting.....respect

Best regards

Hi again.

Thanks for having a listen to some of my songs. What you hear is BIAB/RB - they're amazing programs.

I don't know if this is might be related to your problem. I pass the information on in case it's useful.

Recently, I installed Windows 7 on a new computer. With my soundcard, I found that I needed to set the Windows playback setting to 48000 Hz. When I had it set to 44100 Hz, I had some distortion.

To access the above, right-click on the speaker icon (lower right of screen and next to the clock), select "Playback" and then follow the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 on the image. (What you see are my settings that work for me.)

With BIAB/RB, it's very important that the two options number '4' are activated when the soundcard is set to 48000 Hz. This is because Realtracks are 44100 Hz, 16 bits and they will sound out of tune if the exclusive control options are not engaged.

Hope the above helps,
Noel

Hello Noel,

Thank you very much for the lot of work and time you invest in my Problem. The Speakers in Windows are set to my Seinberg/Yamaha audiointerface and the connected active Near fiels Speakers. The exclusive rights are set, i have only the Option of "2 channels -24 Bit - 44,100 Hz". This worked fine
until my installed Realband.

Starting Realband (older build) from the external USB Harddrive (shipped PGmusic-Drive)--> no distortion but Quality seems to be lower.

I think i have to stay with BiaB and Cubase DAW, without Realband -(

Again, Thank you Noel

Best regards from Bavaria/Germany

Is RB set to 24/44 bitrate to match the interface?

You mentioned ASIO. If it isn't setup properly in RB you can get terrible sound. Go into RB's Audio settings and tell us EXACTLY what it says regarding your ASIO setup starting with what ASIO driver you're using.

Zetman,

If you send an email to Support, as suggested by Matt, it would be useful to attach a short audio recording of the problem.

I've done this a couple of times over the years. In this instance, what I'd do is to have the computer set to record what is being played (on my system that's called "what you hear" - it's found under 'right-click speaker icon | recording'). I'd then start Realband playing and I'd use my DAW to record 10 or 15 seconds of audio. Lastly, I'd compress the audio and attach it to an email.

I've found that Support appreciate as much detail as possible. As Matt said, "They are outstanding"... they really are.

Regards,
Noel

"Starting Realband (older build) from the external USB Harddrive (shipped PGmusic-Drive)--> no distortion but Quality seems to be lower. "

check the masters volume slider
if it's working on the old version just compare the audio setting

Hello all,

Many thanks for all your replies.

Testing all your ideas and at least i installed complete again.

Settings before and now was 24-44100 in Realband - in Band in a Box 16-44100 and I found no Preference to change this to 24-44100.

In Realband will the song (Window Pops up) converted in 24-44100.

After the new Installation no Distortion anylonger. Quality (in my ears) is the same as the USB-Harddisk-Version.

Settings now and before are the same - found no failure.

What i am wondering is, that in Band in a box the sound of different Workarounds always seems to be more clear and easy saying... better....is.

So far i stay with DAW Cubase 8 for working with my BiaB ideas.

Thanks a lot for all your tipps

Greetings

Looks like you solved the issue. Since the reinstall fixed it.... you possibly had a corrupted file in the original installation. Sometimes things just do go wrong.

Glad you got it working.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
