Hi all.

Not sure where to post this but it is aimed at BIAB users that might want to improve their general mid sounds on a PC especially if still using the Microsoft GS wave table.

I have written an article on my website on obtaining and installing the,.
Coolsoft VirtualMidiSynth +Timbres Of Heaven Soundfont
And have also written a Sonar instrument def Mike Head Feb 2016
You could use this I think to make a PAT file, I will leave that to one of you experts.

However here is the link to my website article that contains all the necessary info and links to the software required to achieve this task.

http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/mikesmusic/my_technical_articles2.html#Coolsoft_VirtualMidiSynth_Timbres_Of_Heaven_Soundfont__Sonar_instrument_def

If you feel this post is in the wrong section perhaps the mods can move it thanks.

Have fun.
Best regards
Mike

I have (and occasionally use) the Coolsoft Virtual MIDI Synth as well. It makes it easy to use soundfonts without needing a Creative card (nor being limited by soundcard memory), and it operates as a synth port (not a DXi or VSTi), so you can select it even from apps that don't support DXi/VSTi, yet still get soundfont functionality.

I've not tried the Timbres of Heaven soundfont, but will download it and give it a try. Thanks for posting this. I generally use the 32MB Reality Soundfont.

Was going to try but the 3.3 beta, but it is "404'ed" so I will try the 3.2 final.

Hi John
Yes indeed a very useful extra midi device. Nice to know I am not alone in thinking this.

Hi Larry
Yes I had noticed that, I thought that maybe the 3,3 beta may have become the 3,2 final to replace the 3,2
Just my guess .

Thank you for you interest .
Mike

Mike,

Have used the program for some number of years.
Had a newbies problem with install way back, but.

I use your software for most of my initial track auditions.

Thanks to you.

HI ALL

As the original post has past the time that it can be edited .
I have had to post un updated link here below.

http://mikesmusic.byethost16.com/my_technical_articles2.html#Coolsoft_VirtualMidiSynth_Timbres_Of_Heaven_Soundfont__Sonar_instrument_def

This is because my original web site host is closing on June 16-2018 and therefore the original link will be broken .
As few are still downloading this although it is an old thread, please use this new link.
Or the link to my website in my signature,
Best regards.
Mike

I have had Timbres of Heaven Soundfont for sometime and it is wonderful. If any of you are on the fence, don't miss this opportunity.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
