I export MIDI and Realtracks, then I open the MiDI file in Cubase and I import Audio. Now MIDI and Audio are no more synchronized. I tried a lot of different settings. Please help me

First thing you might try is make sure the tempo in Cubase is the same as it was in BIAB.

Tell us about the computer sound card and the driver you are using with Cubase.

I'm assuming that things were working in BB but when you put it in the DAW things were not synced up any more.

In BB I can use any driver of sound card including the factory driver. even with real tracks being used in BB.

When I move it to my DAW, the factory stuff doesn't work properly due to the driver...MME not being suitable to run the more complicated DAW software Sonar. Normally the audio will play ahead of the midi based tracks, or more properly, the midi lags behind. It's called Latency... The best solution is to have a decent external interface (sound card) that can run ASIO drivers and then having that set up properly.

You might be able to get some satisfaction by adjusting the midi buffers and latency settings. Some folks can get that to work.... I never could. But a good interface is the solution.

Another work around would be to bounce the midi tracks to audio. Sonar allows that and Cubase should as well... you can also simply FREEZE the midi track. Freezing it converts it to audio and it should play in sync with the other audio tracks. Like I said, a temporary fix until you can get an interface if you don't have one yet.

Hi Worldjazz,

Welcome to the forums.

Please elaborate a little more on what you mean by "audio"? Is the Realtrack audio files that aren't in synch or is it audio from elsewhere?

Regards,
Noel

As well as the bpm value, one thing I found when importing is to ensure that the timeline cursor is at zero. In some DAWS, importing will place the song start point at the cursor point. If it's slightly off zero, this could introduce a sync problem.

Yes very good point, have done that myself a few times. I usually keep snap to grid on with a larger quantize value selected when drag and dropping files.

Is it because the audio has a two bar count-in at the beginning?
In other words does it stay consistent through the song, or does it wander worse and worse?

You need to be sure you are using IT and not the default sound card in the computer. It requires a bit of set up to make it the default card and also you might need to adjust the settings a bit... buffers and latency.

Even a cheap ASIO interface will work perfectly once it's set up right and it will play the maid and audio back perfectly in sync.

Be sure the ASIO card is set up as the input AND the output sound card for the software you're using. Make it the default.... then you might want to restart the program.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
