Hi, friends !:)) I know I should not have posted this version as I am suffering from a bout of flu and I know I can´t do my best on the falsetto but, as I am flying to Spain to rumble on the beaches over there I decided to post this surf tune !:)) Pat wanted me to come up with another and this is what I could do for the moment !:)) This is the rewritten tune: http://app.box.com/s/ibc5acy6gifiii6y3kt7u78lmfe8ov3thttp://soundcloud.com/dani-lindroos/my-surfin-ladyRecorded with Mixcraft 7 with Stagg mic. The Style used is 12_8 SURF.STY 12_8 Surf-Slow 12/8 The instros used are: Bass: 36 Fretless El Bass Guitar 1: 28 Clean El Guit Drums are Realdrums = Nashville 128/02 Side Stick Snare Guitar 2: 22 Jazz El Guitar Voice Oohs: 54 Voice OOhs Soloist: Guitar El Rhytm Pop 16 ths Arp And the lyrics are as follows: My Surfin´Lady (Music & Words by Norman Wibe) If you´d only let me be your one and only love I´d be you true If you´d only let me hold you in my arms again I´d love you, only you I feel so down, when you´re not around I feel so blue, and you know that it´s true yes you do, so, let´s go to a place, far away, …...babe, there I´d give my heart to you and promise I´d be yours forever, ever more, there we´ll fly together for the rest of our days, yeah to that shore, faraway shore and I´d feel fine when I know you are mine there we´ll stay surfin´all day in the sun, on the sea There, beneath the deep blue sky we´ll be together day and night with all that´s in my might I will take you so high,so high and I´ll give my heart to you and promise I´d be yours forever, ever more, there we´ll fly together for the rest of our days, yeah to that shore, faraway shore and I´d feel fine when I know you are mine there we´ll stay surfin´all day…..and, when you let me hold you in my arms again, you´ll know that I love you I love you ! Hi, guys have a most pleasant surfing season !:)) Cheers Dani

Hey Dani! So glad you came back with another Beach Boys style song before you leave for the Beach in Spain (I'm so jealous!)
Between you and Robb you're cornering the market for songs from this era! I had forgotten how much I enjoy these songs! You credit me with being the one who talked you into this, but I think you're having the same effect on me! I'm already talking to a forum guru about a collaboration on a song from this era!
I love how you mimic the chord progressions and innocent lyrical themes from this period, when phrases like "Promise I'd be yours forever more" sounded more like the expression of an ideal than a cliche.
I could tell that there were more than 2 vocal parts, but on my system everything below the two highest ones got lost in the shuffle. Or maybe it was that lush 60s reverb... ;-)
Anyway.. THANKS for coming back for an encore before exiting the stage for your beach holiday! I hope that while you sit on the beach you'll have a pencil and pad in hand, writing more of these beach inspired love songs!

From the barbershop to the beach...a Dani odyssey!!
There are a LOT of folks who would LOVE to be able to sing like that -- flu or not.
So cool!!!
We love it...

Hi, Pat !:))
Thank you Pat for your most kind words !:)) Yes, Pat, I am a child of that golden era when they made heavenly music and the whole musical world exploded !:))
Guess they would say that I´m old fashioned and why wouldn´t I be ? I like the music that rode along with me since childhood !
If there´ll be time I promise to come up later with a new surf tune after the Spain session ! I´ll be there from the 27 th of april to the 11 th of May and my grown up kids will stay in my flat taking care of my two cats !:))
I wish you all the best with your intended tune from that glorious era and with the eventual collaboration !:))
Take Care
Cheers Dani

this song somehow reminds me a little bit of I'm Mandy fly me of 10CC. which will have something to do with the smooth backing vocals
good work Dani!

Hi Dani,
sorry about your flu. But I can't hear it. With this one you really caught the sound of the era. Beautiful harmonies. The beginning of the verses remind me of a song I can't remember. Please help, anybody. It drives me crazy.

Dear Janice & Bud !
I am humble enough but my reference to my flu had to do with my shortcomings on the falsettos which can be clearly heard !:))
I do thank you both so much for your most kind comments !:))
Cheers Dani

Thank you Trygve !:))
I am afraid that it may sound like a thousand other tunes with similar types of chord-progressions but without having any specific in mind I tried to make one following my own melody line but I can have missed the point ! I just wanted to write a tune I´d love to sing in many voices !
Cheers Dani

Hi, Trevor !:))
I thank you so much for your encouraging and kind words ! I was not able to do what I really wanted referring to my restrictions on the falsettos and the tune may sound like a thousand other ones from that era !:)) I so dig the Beach Boys type music i.e. surf music !
Cheers Dani

Hi, Rob & Anne-Marie !
Thank you both for your most kind words !:)) This tune will undoubtedly sound like a thousand other tunes of the surf era and that is no wonder as the progressions remind you of so many other tunes !
The point is that I wanted to write a song that I would love to sing and I can only hope that it does not remind anyone too much of any particular song. At least I did not have any in mind writing it just loved the chord progressions !
Cheers Dani

Hi, Greg !:))
We are going down to Spain next week naturally not to surf, that is just wishful lyrics (chuckle)!!!
I had to write something that I could perform and post for the forum members as i cannot do any covers ! When I wrote this tune I did not have any specific tune in mind but there must be lots of tunes with similar or close to similar chord progressions as that was the way of that golden era we´ve left behind !
I do thank you Greg for your most kind words !
Cheers Dani

Dear friend !
I would like to help you so that you would not need to become crazy. I can tell you, though, that I did not have any specific tune in mind when I wrote this ! I am perfectly sure that you will find thousands of tunes from that era with similar or close to similar type of chord progressions as that was the way of the day !:))
I did write this just to be able to perform and post something that was´nt a cover and that I´d love to do !
It was more or less an experiment on what kind of sounds I could improvise on a nice melody as I am a very big fan of surf music in general and Brian Wilson´s music in particular !
I do thank you so much for your most kind words and you know that I had you in mind when trying to fix some nice harmonies !
Hope you´ll find that tune that will hinder you from going crazy soon !:))
Cheers Dani

Hi, Lawrence !:))
Thank you for your most kind words! I am glad that you liked the song as I know that you also dig sweet harmonies (in this case maybe not perfect, but nonetheless)
Cheers Dani

It's not the chordprogression, it's that specific melody: I hope that somebody can help me. Guenter

A little bit "Girls On The Beach". A little bit "Surfer Girl". A little "God Only Knows".... Classic!
Awesome chord changes. Beautiful harmonies.

Dear friend !
Maybe you could try some of the apps where you can get the name of a tune by playing it for your telephone ?

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
