Often when I load a previously made song I only hear the drums.

The other instruments (Piano, Organ etc etc all RealTracks) have no sound but are still listed in the mixer and no matter if I try to load them they wont make any sound!

Am I missing something ???

Check your Audio Drivers in Prefs (inside BiaB) and make sure they point to the intended device.

Does it point to where you expect to hear it from?

Make your sound your own!
.. I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Are you talking about Real Tracks or MIDI Tracks?

I've never heard of this problem before. Can you please post a screen shot of BIAB when it's loaded an not working properly. That will give a bit more insight.

Everything looks completely normal, I just don't hear the Piano and Bass !

I suspect that our interpretations of 'normal' might be a bit different. I've been using BIAB for a long time and it's possible that I could see something that you are not aware of. (That being said, it's also possible that there's nothing extra to see... even that helps narrow down the issue a bit.)

It would be good if I could see a full screenshot of the entire BIAB chordsheet that includes menus and mixer when it's loaded with a song that's not working properly. (The below image is an example of what would help.)

Noel, perhaps he could upload the song file itself so we can test it on our BIAB versions? If it plays back perfectly on our software, it's a setting that's out of whack on his. Then again, perhaps we already know this smile.

Glad you got it resolved, MagicalDog. It would be nice to know why it worked, so you can avoid future issues. Feel free to post anytime. I sure will. I'm still learning!!

It's always a great feeling when you solve a problem but I hate the thought of not knowing the cause !

Agreed. I once knew a veteran auto mechanic who taught me, "Never fix anything on a car until you know why it broke in the first place." Wise words. He was saying, "If it is simple wear and tear, that's a no brainer. But if it's a design flaw or abuse, that's different. Replacing a part just won't cut it. To achieve better gas mileage, you can try to adjust fuel flow and air intake, but if the tires are under inflated by 4 or 5 PSI, the fuel equations are right out the window."

Good luck in your quest to find the cause smile.

I have a similar problem: I get the bright yellow notice box in the upper right corner telling me that "real tracks" for selected instruments can not be found. Although I can sometimes hear the instrument in question, when I open the file in realband it's not there. The problem is so prevalent that I can only use a handfull of real tracks - which is VERY frustrating. When I installed bib I got a message saying there was not enough space on the hard drive (there was) so I installed to a Zip drive. Anyhoo only limited success with BIB/RB so far

Greebly,

Welcome to the forum.

What package did you buy? For example, do you have the ProPak, MegaPak, UltraPlusPak, etc. Also, is it BIAB 2016 for Windows that you have?

Lastly, by a 'Zip' drive are you meaning a standard hard drive that runs externally via USB or are you meaning an Iomega zip drive that was introduced to the world in the 1990s? (See link below.)

Noel

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
