Hi all, not been using BIAB long, I have the 2016 version. My problem is, I try to export or save as, to wav, wma, mp3 makes no difference, when I do the file that is saving just keeps getting bigger the longer I leave it saving, once went to 33gb, BIAB does not respond and I have to close it down before I can do anything else. I have successfully saved a track to this format, but my second track will not. I have uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail.

My first suggestion would be to try saving the BiaB file as another name to make sure the original file is not corrupted or the disk itself having an error or bad sector.
That would mean using Save As to save the mgu or sgu file with another name, causing it to be written somewhere else in the file system.
Then try the export process using the new file.

This may eliminate an error (or disk corruption) originating in the original source file. Just a thought.

A similar thought, try opening the song file with RealBand then saving under a different name. Then try rendering the tracks from RealBand.

Karl,

I wonder if maybe the bar settings and/or the number of choruses is set very high on your song? It also sounds like maybe the silence at the end setting could have a large value entered or the song's tempo is very low.

As an experiment, try this...

1. Under file, select "New" to begin a new song with all settings returned to default.

2. Set the following highlighted settings to those values I have entered.

3. Set the tempo to 100 like in the image above.

4. Follow the 1, 2 in the image below and check that the "Delay at start" and "Delay at end" values are 0 and 2 as shown below.

5. Enter a chord progression in the 8 bars, generate the song and then save to wav. (Wav always works so, for this experiment, don't try any of the other audio formats initially.)

The above should create a song file around 30 secs long.

Let us know the outcome.

Regards,
Noel

Plot thickens guys, I use BIAB on another pc and transfered the track over to it and it saved to wav with no problems. I will now look at settings on each to see if there is a difference.

I had a similar problem rendering to wav with normalisation yesterday (huge files)but only if BIAB 2016 was playing the song at the same time. If I wasn't playing the song, it saved fine. I didn't really check it out as I was getting rendered backing tracks ready for a gig that afternoon and in a rush, I just made sure I wasn't playing the file when I rendered it. With the big files I had to stop BIAB in Windows 10 and restart it. I've yet to go to the latest build (just released).

You render while it's playing?
BiaB starts playing before all the tracks are totally rendered, finishing the task behind the scenes (to improve a delayed start).

If you render wave files while playing the song I could understand the system having an issue with all the rendering processes trying to get done at once.

In case it helps, I don't use 'rendering' in the way that's being described; I simply record my BIAB song playing in real time. I do this because I use a hardware MIDI synth, not a software one.

Thanks for all the help guys.
I checked both laptops side by side checked all settings where the same and used a sample (urban2) as a tester track. Did all the sequences the same on both at the same time, did nothing different on either and the result was the same with the faulty laptop. I Can used the faulty one for everything but export files, the files are not corupted when transfered to working system.
My next plan is to purge the system of BIAB and try a fresh install.

Save your BIAB activation before 'purging'.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
