excuse my English please. I use BiaB 2012; a friend of mine BiaB 2014. We exchange BiaB-files. All of a sudden in our both versions of BiaB the number of strophes (verses) is presettet to "3". We change it to "1", but with the next song, it is again presettet to "3".
I searched the forum and found one input in the german BiaB-Forum, but I can't find the suggested setting in "solist".
Tilia I think its a 'standard'. You have to change it for each new SGU. Many Users will want 3 strophes, or 2 maybe or 4 or 1, so it is kept at 3 as a Default. Ian

What I'm not clear about is if it is changing between opening the file in 2012 versus 2014. In other words, do you save it with 1 chorus (strophes) in 2012, but when you open it in 2014, it reverts back to 3? (And/or vice versa?)
Or, as Ian said, is it just that when you start a new file, it always starts with 3 choruses (which is correct behavior - you just change it to what you want it, and then when you save the file, it remembers the setting).

Sorry, I now found out, that what in the german version of BiaB is called "strophe", in the english version is called "choruses" - the number of repeats of the song.
The problem is, that BiaB newly doesn't remember the setting of the choruses. A song, saved with choruses "1", opened again, has always choruses "3".
Sixchannel, I don't mind to change it for each new song. It would be nice, if the standard-setting for choruses woud be "1" again. But above all I would like it to remember the setting for each song.
Jford, the phenomenon happens in both versions of BiaB, independent of the files exchanged. So if I save a file in my 2012-version and open it again, it has changed from "1" to "3". The same in the 2014-version. I just wondered, if one software has "infected" the other? tilia
Tilia, Is there any chance that the tracks are frozen? Although this should not matter. When you change the number of choruses to 1 you should answer yes to the question if the song had a melody line, and also save the song before exiting. Are those steps being taken OK? (Always a new song will default to 3, but re-opening an existing song should open with the number of choruses that the song was last saved with)

Another thought: Try saving with a different name, then exit/restart BiaB then open the file that has the new name. This is to make sure that you are definitely opening the correct file.

Could it be you have changed some of the settings in "Overrides"? In Opt->Preferences there is an "Overrides" button (No idea what it is in German). That has a section for "Allow songs to load settings for"... Maybe something in there has got turned off. Particularly Chorus.

If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
