D.I.V.O.R.C.E.

With apologies to Aretha.
Here is an old one I updated recently.

Lyric and vocal Leon
I played guitar and did the backing vocal.

The organ, horn section and piano are from midi styles lost in time. There is also a small drum loop before the solo.

The new real tracks:
RealTracks in style: 1434:Bass, Electric, JazzFunkPoppy Ev16 110
RealTracks in style: 1570:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm Soul60sHighBackBeat Ev 110
RealDrums in style: Motown60sPopEven: a: Snare, HiHatb: Snare, Ride

D.I.V.O.R.C.E.
Why do you want to take away all my money?
Why do you want to see the colour of my blood?
Why do you want to suck the soul out of my body?
And throw away the empty husk

Haven’t I been good to you
Haven’t I been good as a man could be
Haven’t I been good to you
Why do you want a D.I.VO.R.C.E.

Why do you want to strip away my pride?
Why do you want to rob me of my self respect?
Have you forgotten all about the good times baby?
Can’t you take a moment to reflect

Haven’t I been good to you?
Haven’t I been good as a man could be?
Haven’t I been good to you?
Why do you want a D.I.VO.R.C.E.?

Why do you want a D.I.VO.R.C.E.
Why do you want a D.I.VO.R.C.E.
Haven’t I been good to you baby
Why do you want a D.I.VO.R.C.E.

Why do you want to take away my brand new Cadillac?
And the house that we used to share
You’re gonna’ leave me with these boots I’m wearing
And you’re acting like you just don’t care

I saw you driving with your fancy boyfriend
I felt like my brain was gonna burst right through my skull
Did you leave me just because he’s big and handsome?
Did you really think our marriage was that dull?

Haven’t I been good to you?
Haven’t I been good as a man could be?
Haven’t I been good to you?
Why do you want a D.I.VO.R.C.E.?

Why do you want a D.I.VO.R.C.E.
Why do you want a D.I.VO.R.C.E.
Haven’t I been good to you
Why, why do you want that damn thing?

Haven’t I, haven’t I been good to you baby?
Oh haven’t I been good as a man can be?

hi Peter,

I like the way you borrowed the aretha franklin idea and made it your own... you've found a topic that will resonate with a lot of men for sure.. (I hope it's not based on personal experience!)

The guitar solo at the end was great, and I can totally imagine this song going over quite well in a live venue

You must have had fun recording this - some cutting lines there in the lyric delivered with panache by the vocalist.
The opening grabs attention right away and your guitar solo at the close is worth the wait.

This top shelf all the way. I really liked the backing tracks, vocals and the fantastic guitar solo at the end.

This is a keeper.

Peter/Leon...

A nice, clever write. Well sung.

Great job on the opening - the horns pump! The drums solo was a super addition (I assume that was the loop you mentioned?). Nice guitar ending..

Enjoyed that...

Somehow I knew it wouldn't be related to Tammy Wynette's song. smile

Man, was that ever fun to listen to. Horns, drums, your guitar, the cool vocals...the whole mix just rocks.

This grabs you from the intro and never lets go.

We have some R.E.S.P.E.C.T!!

Great.

Edit: oops saw that I stole Guenter's line!

Floyd has it right (as he almost always does)! Nice one. Lots of fun!! I think Aretha would be proud-imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!! Take care. Greg

Thanks for the comment on the backing vocal - always a bit hesitant regarding my vocals.

Thanks for listening. The loop was the drum solo which fit in surprisingly well with the other drums.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
