A tune for Stratocaster and Hawaiian guitar. REVISED LINKS BELOW TO CORRECT AN ERROR
This is a truly International collaboration between friends - Kay in L.A. California who is a very accomplished hawaiian guitar player, Jan in Holland and myself in the UK. Kay and I noodled about with this tune during his stay here, making a rough and ready BIAB SGU as we went along. On his return home I set about making it into a proper BT.
Although set up initially as Style _PBALADF.STY here is the actual RT listing used- RealTracks in style: 519:Bass, Electric, Pop HalfNotes Ev 120 RealTracks in song: 692:Guitar, Acoustic, Strumming AcRockBright Ev 120 (A:sync) RealTracks in song: 362:Guitar, Acoustic, Strumming Ev 085 RealTracks in style: 543:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm Dreamy Ev 120 RealTracks in song: 1943:Synth, Rhythm, EuroDance Strings Ev 120 RealDrums in Song: ChaCha^5-a,b:Brushes MIDI Strings (49), Slow Strings (50), Shaker and Triangle were free loops from the Internet. The specific Intro and infill Brass was created by Jan, another BIAB user, who used the piano roll feature in his Sonar. Kay recorded his part in L.A., I made the BB BT and recorded mine in Wolverhampton UK and Jan recorded the Brass and did the final mix in Holland. Oceans apart but of the same mind. We hope you enjoy. Kay, Jan and Ian
Lush and lovely. For somebody like me who tops out with around 5-6 tracks I can very much appreciate the effort that must have gone into this mix. Yes, you three are of the same mind and this use of RT's makes one think that those players are of the same.
It sounds tremendous on our monitors and the soundstage is remarkable.
Congrats on the playing, the arrangement and the mix.
Some great stuff bouncing across the pond!! Really nice musical bed, and some gorgeous guitar work on top. I love how well the different styles blend. Just got back from Hawaii and that Hawaiian guitar makes me want to fly back already. Wonderful!! Take care. Greg

This is beautiful. I really like the chord progression... professional all the way. The mix sounds superb. I have to hand it to you all, you, Kay and Jan have done a great job!
Thanks for listening and your kind words. Janice & Bud - it kind of grew like Topsy. Started as 4 tracks, then we added this and then that - a bit like a pot of Stew! Lol Hi Floyd. Melodies dont come my way often and I have Kay Das and Johan De Greyze to thank for helping turn it into the lovely sound file it is. Hi Rob and Anne-Marie - thank you. We enjoyed the challenge. Your Countryman Johan did a superb job on the mix. Hi Greg - never been to Hawaii but Kay has several times. Its a lush sound and perfect here. Hi Josie - many thanks. Hi Noel - I still record using BIAB for my backings but theyre Covers so not allowed here. I like the chord progression too. Each verse has a minor tweak in the chord run somewhere just for interest musically. Kays Hawaiuan touch is magic and playing aside, Jan (Johan) created a lovely mix. Its what friends are for. Ian

NOTE - I have revised the SF and put new links on the OP. - Hi David - many thanks. From such an accomplished Player, this is Praise indeed! Hi Robert - So glad you like our musical "Stew"! Hi Peter - thank you. I could quite easily be run behind a Doco on the Islands. The "harmony" was interesting to work out - glad you enjoyed them BR Ian

This tune is wonderful. I can picture myself on the beach in Hawaii!
One of the things that really impresses me about this tune is the ingenuity and use of technology. Amazing that Kay recorded his part in L.A., Ian made the Band-in-a-Box backing tracks and recorded his part in Wolverhampton UK and then Jan recorded the Brass and did the final mix in Holland. Wow! I love what you say "Oceans apart but of the same mind."
Hi Trev - surprising where a jam can lead. Kay such a joy to work with. Jan so good with the mix and his midi abilities. Hi Tommy, Kay runs a late Sunday night radio show on OCRock Radio in L.A. and often features hawaiian and pedal steel tracks. Hi Charlie, playing is one thing but the 'polish' comes from Jan's expertise. Hi Pauline, its a very small world these days, thanks to the Internet. And thanks to WeTransfer, the free big file sending service, sending multiple wav files was so easy. Best regards Ian

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
