The Answer Whispering

This is a co-write with my colleague Russell Brenchley

Russell recently gave me a poem that he had written from lyrics from 32 well known songs. The poem told a story about LIFE. The poem is about how we go down the road, questioning everything, even God's existence and looking to the wind for all the answers. Then at some stage we discover that the answer is inside us all along.

Russel gave me a break down of each line he had chosen and what it meant in the context of the story as well as complete lyrics of all 32 songs. He also gave me a cross reference to each of the song, the artist and the year of release . The photo here is a picture of one page of the document that Russell gave me.

I took each line of the story and put some rhyme and meter to it. This song is the result. I do hope you enjoy it.

New lyrics:
Along the rocky road I go
The wind becomes my guide
The're others on the journey who
Cannot be satisfied
I left home a week before
Roamed two thousand miles
How many more must I walk
Before the wind relies

The drum beats out a song to come
My heart is open wide
The road is full of ups and downs
A warning by my side
What of soldiers on the field
tell me where they go
What of the knife that cuts so deep
I swear I do not know

And what if GOD does not exist
Is there a consequence
Will all my errors be ignored
How will I make amends
And if I go through life alone
Staring straight ahead
Will I be shown the broken road
Where others fear to tread

Instrumental

Along the rugged road I go
The wind is at my side
The're others on the journey who
Cannot be satisfied
I left home some time before
Roamed two thousand miles
How many more must I walk
Before the wind confides

My march beats out a song to come
The morning opens wide
My journey full of ups and downs
A candle by my side
What of sailors on the sea
tell me where they go
What of the knife that cuts so deep
I tell you I dont know

And what if GOD does not exist
Is he significant?
Will all my blunders be denied
Am I still innocent

And if I go through life alone
Staring straight ahead
Will I be shown the potted road
Where angel s fear to tread

Once again I ask the wind
When will I start to change
I've fought the devil hand on hand
If only to defend
Quite suddently it all comes clear
The change is from within
I listen close and then I hear
The Answer Whispering

Once again I ask the wind
When will I start to change
I've fought the devil hand on hand
If only to defend
Quite suddently it all comes clear
The change is from within
I listen close and then I hear
The answer whispering
I listen close and then I hear
The answer whispering

Joanne/Russell...

An interesting idea for constructing a song. Like a puzzle to see if you know what each song is...

The band moves it along well. A fun listen.

It started Noel's Tueday and now a day later it started my Tuesday smile

Dittos to all he said and we'll add that the rockabilly RT's worked very well in the nice mix!

Nicely done Joanne!! A bit more uptempo than you usually do. Very catchy melody, and the arrangement is just right. Loved the vocal too!! Take care. Greg

Hi Noel, Floyd, Sergio, Bob, Bud and Janice, Alyn, Greg, David
Thank you so much for all your kind comments on this song. It was quite a process trying to include each line and make a comprehensive story out of it. The structure is definatey not my normal verse verse chorus verse chorus bridge chorus!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
