This is my Rock-Pop contribution to the Xtra Styles competition (content copied from the original post).

Wrong

I used the _ALAMO style which is a great Texas Rock/Pop style with nice chimey guitars. Once again BIAB came up with the goods and let me concentrate on getting the idea down before it was forgotten.

I added the vocals and the guitar solo at the end afterwards. I was trying to get a Tom Scholz sound on the solo – took a lot of tweaking before I found a sound that was even close. His sound is still unique even after all these years!

****** Song Summary *************
Title: Wrong
File:Wrong (Alamo Xtra).SGU
Key=C , Tempo 100
8 bar intro, 24 bar chorus, from bar 9 to bar 32. Repeat x2 choruses, tag ending, after bar 32
Style is _ALAMO.STY (Alamo Texas Pop Rock w Piano)
RealTracks in style: 2260:Bass, Electric, FunkyGroove60s Ev 100
RealTracks in style: 1690:Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm PopPromise Ev16 100
RealTracks in style: 1687:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm PopPromiseGritty4s Ev16 100
RealTracks in style: 1688:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm PopPromiseGritty8s Ev16 100
RealDrums in style: BluesRockFunky16ths^1-a:Snare, HiHat , b:Busy Snare, HiHat
**************************

Lyrics:

Well I don’t know what I’m doing wrong,
Got a feeling that I should have known,
I can’t decide,
If you lied,
Whether I should have gone

You can’t keep on treating me bad,
Cos you’re making me oh so sad,
You know it’s not right,
To set me alight,
Then turn me off like a light

It’s wrong, wrong, wrong,
You’re singing me like a song,
You’re playing me like a fool
And I know that it’s wrong

It’s time for me to make up my mind,
Find someone who’ll treat me kind,
You had your chance,
You led me a dance,
No more time for romance

I hope in time you’ll see that it’s true,
All the hurt you caused made me blue,
You lost someone good,
And misunderstood,
Now the person who’s hurting is you

It was wrong, wrong, wrong,
You were singing me like a song,
Playing me like a fool,
And I knew it was wrong

Enjoy!

Another cool sounding song, Rec. I am really enjoying hearing your stuff.

The time "tweaking" was WELL worth it - Super COOL guitar!!!

You are on fire with the new styles! Keep it up!

Thanks Floyd! Just the Country category left to do but I might sit that one out as my voice doesn't really lend itself to that genre. I could do with borrowing your voice for that one, lol!

Just listening to "I Love You When it Rains". That is such a cool song. Fantastic vocals and production too. Love it!

Cheers

I too have been extremely impressed!! I catch an ELO vibe on this. Your productions are top notch-particularly like the guitar solo and drums here. GREAT stuff!! Take care. Greg

I`m having trouble reviewing your song - the way that guitar comes in at the end fries my brain!
Seriously,though- a good song and top notch production. I`m a follower.

Rec,

"Wow!" was the first word that sprang into my head when I started listening. This is terrific. I really like the chord progression, the melody and the arrangement. Sensational music!

How come you haven't been posting on Users Showcase more regularly?

Going back for another listen now.

Noel

Many thanks for your great comments Greg. I would love to capture that ELO sound but I have a way to go yet! Then again Jeff Lynne has such a great voice. I can dream smile

Thank you so much Noel! I have had a busy year; moving house, lots of things to do in the new house, my 5 year old who keeps me on my toes, making worship backing tracks (using BIAB of course) for my local church. I am also trying to put together an album and looking into giving guitar lessons locally. My other half is very understanding but spare time is limited. So I thought the Xtra styles competition was something I could dip my toes into without spending too much time but I have really got the bug again now, lol! I checked out a few of the recent tracks on the User Showcase and was blown away by the quality of the songs and musicianship which gave me something to aim for.

Cheers

Fine production!

Enjoyed the write, the vocals and the killer guitar outro!

The soundstage is terrific on our monitors. The mix is excellent. Everything is right in the pocket.

P.S. Interested to read about your Praise and Worship background. My wife and I do the same thing. No wonder you're so good. smile

I also sit in with a full on Harlem style gospel group from time to time and have been doing this for years. That will keep you on your toes.

The first time I did it (12 song service), I asked if they had charts and the leader said "Charts? We don't use charts!! I'll tell you what key we're in and how many times we change."

Every song was like AbMaj7b11add9+13/Db+9sus13flat5/Bb9add11sus4 and so on....for about one verse...until modulation 1 out of 5.

In 11/4.

So by time you get to Band in a Box...

Well let's just say the Lord works in mysterious ways. Know what I mean brother??

Hey David, interesting to hear that. The Harlem Style Gospel band sounds like a REAL challenge! They must be so good. I know what you mean bro shocked

The challenge in my new church is that I am the band, lol. So I use a Voicelive 3 to thicken up my vocal sound along with my BIAB created backing tracks. I don't think I could do gospel though! Men of Faith or 10,000 Reasons is more my thing.

Cheers

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
