Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

Well....

My laptop has been Win10 for a couple months and I see no difference in WMP.

Try this:
Open Windows Media Player.
At far right there are three TABS (Play - Burn - Sync)
Just below the Sync TAB at right is a small drop down arrow.
Click it...and select Data CD or DVD.

Hope that helps....if I'm understanding you correctly, that is.

This is the program I use and have done for a long time.

https://cdburnerxp.se/en/home

I used it on Windows 7. From information at the site, it seems to be compatible with Windows 10, too.

I did try that, however, it didn't make a disc that can be played in a dvd player. I believe it ended up being a data dvd.

Thanks though! smile

I d/led it and it appears it has to be in 1 of 3 type of file formats. I am looking specifically to burn from a windows movie file.

Thanks for the reply.

What kind of file are you burning from?

Caaron,

I've used it to burn data CDs and DVDs, audio CDs as well as CDs and DVDs from ISO images. It's worked really well.

Below is the opening screen for CD Burner XP, I've highlighted the option that one would select if setting about creating a DVD for use in DVD players.

Regards,
Noel

I certainly was no help for the exact dilemma.

So...I just did an experiment on my laptop.
I made a short DVD and did the process we've discussed here.
I re-inserted the freshly made DVD into this laptop and it did not come up and auto-play. (insert creative cursing)
(EDIT: I fixed the auto-play, sort of, by choosing default video playback application in control panel. Then a prompt comes up at bottom right asking you what app to use to play the video)
I then went to Win Explorer...clicked the D: drive...dble clicked the video folder to open it, then dble clicked the video and it did start playing.

Next...put it in our DVD player in the living room....same result as yourself. Damn thing won't read the video. (Samsung DVD player about 6 or 8 years old)
I'm totally baffled as we speak.
Should I learn more I'll chime in....unless someone else figures it out first.

UPDATE: I found this...see post #4 which I think applies to our PMO:
http://www.tenforums.com/drivers-hardware/51767-dvd-will-not-play.html

I do have LG Power Tools as a third party app so I need to try that next.
Just tried it: burned a DVD in LG Power Tools 8.0....not a new app either.
It DID play on our living room DVD player.
I then shut off all auto-play settings in Win10 control panel.
Changed all settings to 'ask me every time'.
It also played fine on this laptop using LG PT 8.0.

So...it appears the third party app is necessary in this context.
I also think it's very petty for MS to decide to remove that ability from Win10 when it's been such a simple, ubiquitous app for so long.
And, we had to find this out it was omitted in Win10 in the manner we did!

Back to it....

While it is not free, for years now I use Nero.

But actually I think Microsoft should rethink its strategies about changing so much in its OSs. They should deliver a product that is finished, alas they usually sell us green bananas. If they would be more customer oriented we still could use products and procedures that we are used to. Some things are good and don't need to be made better.

I guess it is easier to post-think than to pre-think.

Just wanted to follow up and say a BIG "Thank you!" for the help.

I had a DVD program available but was getting terrible results. My back up program was just using windows...which has been removed.

It turns out the problem with my videos being burned bad was a conversion issue.

I was editing in 1920x1080. Obviously DVD is only 720...so that's why it was looking not so great!

Thanks again for the fast response. I very much appreciate the help!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
