Thanks for the share. Downloaded and installed. They offered a delay and vinyl recording plugin free a few months back. Good stuff!

Thank you. I'll try it. Izotope is a vendor I trust for free utilities.

Thanks, Josie. I'm a fan of iZotope's plugins. I appreciate the heads up.

All the best,

How do you people like it?

This has less than stellar reviews on other sites.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

Mario, I just heard about it this morning. I listened to the a/b sound clips video on their site and I liked the sound of it. So I dl'd it but I haven't had a chance to try it yet.

I haven't read any reviews yet. When Izotope gives one away free, I get it and try it for myself. (Being an Ozone and Nectar user, I know they make quality stuff.) If I don't like it I can always chunk it.

BTW, this plugin is NOT meant to use on the master bus but you can use it on as many individual tracks as you want.

Very nice, I've downloaded it. You need headphones or good monitors to hear the difference clearly. I've used it directly on a song in BIAB 2016 but as yet I can't really hear much difference. I guess the realtracks are already optimized.

Thanks Josie. I've just been giving this plugin a test run across a few tracks I'm currently working on. I like very much. The effect is subtle but pleasing with the benefits really adding up the more tracks you use. Clarity is the word I'd use to describe the net effect. Each instrument sounds more defined in the mix.

Oh, one more thing...I like Ozone and wouldn't live without Ozone 5 (I also have 6), but I am beginning to find that if I master each track well, and keep a sharp eye on those meters the entire time, I really end up with a full, rich sound mix that only needs the slightest tweaks from Ozone. It is easy to squash everything with Ozone and end up with a mix that is really brittle and thin and way over compressed if you are not careful.

I guess what I am saying is I have found you really have to spend a lot of time making each track sound really rich in isolation before you move in for the final polish.

This seems like it would be another good tool to have in selection for track polishing.

Indeed David. Overnight while I was thinking how Neutrino might fit into the scheme of things, I decided it's a pre-mastering tool that will make the early stages of mastering (EQ and compression) easier to avoid. I'm still coming to terms with the largesse of Ozone. I rely on the presets but feel the need to provide plenty of headroom going in and wind things back overall to maintain the organic sound I strive for.

I couldn't agree more. Ozone can enhance a good mix but it's not gonna bail you out of a bad one.

Oh, I so TOTALLY agree with Matcham's word choice on this one. Organic is EXACTLY the word and concept I was searching for.

On my last tune, At the Sound of Your Voice, almost everything was done track by track by track because I wanted to hear that squeak of fingers on guitar strings, the wood, and breath of strings, everything in its own little place, and I didn't want to ruin it in the end--so I only used Ozone to apply just the faintest hint of fairy dust--nothing more.

So, yeah, organic. That's the word man.

The vinyl plug-in was a rerelease of the same one they made a few years back.

I've never used anything from Soundtoys before.

Lots of good reviews on this EQ.

It looks like there's been a couple of little bugs found with DC offset and drive knob function that they're going to release a fix for soon.

I'm looking forward to trying it out.

I have other plugins that use the iLok manager software so I only had to update. It was less of a hassle than it used to be. This time I didn't have to contact support.

Thank you for the heads up Joe!

My issue with iLock was that I had a plugin requiring iLock, and I licensed it.
When the company that hired iLock decided to stop using iLock and not continue forward with the plugin, iLock locked the software I had legally purchased and wouldn't unlock it.
Neither would the company (Oberheim)..

So a certain group hacked it and when I called the online store I bought it from (I think maybe sweetwater, it was a while back) they tipped me off to the hack.
The plugin still works as expected to this day. A few OS later.
So it's not so much iLock I don't like, it's the business model of me taking the chance of using a plugin (I may be relying on for a project) and just randomly having it disabled one day. I was furious when it happened.

Hi Sundance, you're very welcome! smile

If you like Sound toys, I highly recommend plug-ins from Native Instruments too. They also have a few freebies on their website seen here: https://www.native-instruments.com/en/specials/free-vst-instruments-and-effects/

Cheers,
Joe
