Has this category changed to only music related topics?

It has always been designated as such...

"This forum is for music-related discussions that aren't covered in other forums."

"This forum is for music-related discussions that aren't covered in other forums."

And let's hope it stays that way. This site is an escape from things not musical -- more specifically politics, personal drama, etc. There are around 1,000,000 forums or so for topics of that ilk smile

It hasn't changed. That's always been the case.

Fair enough smile I thought it used to be more open than that. Not a complaint, I just thought it was different...and now I know wink

So technically, I maybe shouldn't have started this thread. blush

PGMusic has been pretty lenient historically, mostly due to the lack of abuse by members. They've stated such in the past. You have to get pretty far off the rails to get a complaint/reprimand ..

Put a 4/4 time comment at the end of your post or something; there, now its music related.

Hummm... I've always thought it was for any "Off Topic" subject excluding politicks, religion, and... oh what was that other topic???? Oh well, yeah, anything goes or so I thought.

Music tended to fall under the umbrella of one of the other forums but if not, can also be included here.

I've shared funny stories when I did something goofy and was laughing at myself, been encouraged when I had a health issue or deaths of family members and pets, and have received very helpful advice on various problems with help from my friends here.

So myself and many others have been way off topic many times in the off topic forum.

People have also shared family moments - weddings, graduations, excitement over getting a new job, buying cabins, boats, racing bikes, trips and vacations, etc. All sorts of things have been shared that weren't directly or strictly related to music. Nobody scolded anyone or removed the posts.

I've also had some great laughs found in the OT forum over the years. There are wonderful senses of humor on here.

Our PG forum community built the reputation of being a friendly place by being a friendly place. That is why I've hung out here since 2008 and consider so many here forum friends.

Although there are many more specific discussion areas on the forums now, posting something you want to share in off topic that is not directly music related has never been a big deal as long as it's respectful and friendly.

Based on past experience I'd be quite surprised and disappointed if that attitude toward the OT forum has changed.

I think the OT forum originally was set up for music related topics but like Josie said the friendly forum members here use it for other topics. I think PGMusic allows this because of its friendly and caring forum members. If a war was to start over politics and religion in OT then the rules would be strictly enforced.

Thus IMHO if we don't start expressing our political and religious views (nothing can start a war faster than politics and religion) and keep everything else civil then all is good.

Your views may very.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

Actually the nachos thing started out as a music related question, so I should be ok wink

Thanks for all of the replys! I guess when a few of the categories changed and I read what each was. This one just surprised me, in that, I misunderstood it's intent before.

All good. I wasn't worried, or looking to police anyone else on it. I think it's functioned just fine as is.

Thanks again everyone!

I think Josie offered an excellent comprehensive summary. I was an admin and a moderator on two different boards over the years (not music related) and it was a daily effort to keep things civil so perhaps I'm a bit overly sensitive about how things can go awry on off topic forums. As mentioned two things are very different here 1) the moderators obviously do a great job and, 2), the board members are almost never contentious, mean-spirited or even shrill. It's a good place to hang!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
