sorting that vst time/sync out finally will open up the pg apps up to a whole new world - this is just one example below.

Having the bb chord output option gives you a midi file with all the chords for the song - that you just now load into the rapid composer vsti that reads the chords - this will give the same chord track as real band-band in a box (so real band needs chord output feature also) - now you can drop any midi solo/rhythm/bass into rapid composer vst and you can have it automatically fit to the chord track/scale by right click converting the midi from absolute (stays the same) to relative form (fits to chord/scale), absolute can be used on the associated solo/rhythm/bass pattern midi keyswitch file for Kontakt articulations, that will stay on the same keyswitch no matter where in the chord track you have it - so you just drop the solo/riff midi file anywhere you want it and drop the associated kontakt articulation keyswitch midi file below it.

In the piano roll you can instantly see and move any notes that are out of chord/scale by the color.

So as you are playing real band-band in a box it will send vst time info to rapid composer vsti - now you can easily fit midi kontakt section to the rest of the song not to mention be able to use a drum vsti with a pattern track to create builds and any other drum pattern anywhere at all that you are restricted to do with real drums.
This way I'm staying in pg to create the song - like if I create the midi kontakt solo it sounds great but now the real track piano is out so I just simply multiriff (real band) the piano to fit better to the new kontakt solo - that I can't do if I'm already in pro tools.

Other advantages include - re-wire connection - being able to sync real band in a box with any DAW - all the other vsti plugins that need vst time info like Zplane Vielklang 2, FL Studio vst, Kontakt, Temper, RapidComposer, EZKeys, energyXT Re-wire VST, EZDrummer2, JamStix, Melodyne, Addictive Drums and more (that work in every other DAW there is).

Band in a box could be then used as a plugin itself just as Fl Studio can be - this way it can be a slave to your DAW host.

I don't understand what you're saying.

Is this something that is available now or is this a suggestion that this should be available?

@jazzmanual
apparently the person in charge of VST development stopped working for PG Music some time back - now it has been brought to Jeff's attention he is filling in that structure to enable this VstTimeInfo for syncing play time/bpm for vsti's finally - so this will be a massive move forward for these pg apps and enable so many possibilities.

VstTimeInfo
A protocol defining how a plug-in can obtain time & tempo information from the host application in a variety of formats.

Apparantly?

Pipeline, you know this how? The rule in many forums concerning gossip is simple:

Post a link or it doesn't exist.

The VST tempo synch problem has been reported on and requested in the wishlist for a good 10 years and nothing has happened. I know this because I was one of the very first if not the first to report it and then bugged the absolute crap out of everybody for several years with no results.

I guess you have the "Pipeline" direct to Mr PG himself?

Careful guys .. let's not get anybody hurt here.

I wonder why, if the VST guy is gone, why is his name still at the bottom of the Forum as a moderator?
I admit I haven't heard from him in a long while and his last online here looks to be 2013 .. appears some tidying up is in order on the forum.

Also, let's not confuse BB with RB. Pipeline mentioned Jeff, who works on PT/RB ... this is the BiaB forum.
I'm not trying to get any hopes up here, just noticing..

This is considered a beta build because it is new.

Download the build 10 update

Summary of Changes for Build 10 (Sept 9, 2016)

  • ADDED: Improved support for time-based VST plugin features. Synchronization / tempo lock now works for plugins such as JamStix, Addictive Drums, EZ Drummer, and RapidComposer. This allows, for example, plugins like JamStix Virtual Drummer to generate and play drum arrangements in real-time.

It's a good day in PG Music land. Long time coming but well worth the wait! Thanks to EVERYONE that worked hard and long to make this possible.

Biggie thanks to PG Music for continuing to improve the 2016 products. Many updates have been made to Band-in-a-Box and RealBand throughout this year. Let's hear it for the updates!!!!!!

Yes, a long awaited ability.

And I'm truly happy for all those here that persevered in these forums and with PG to get it/make it happen, in SPITE of folks like me, who wanted it but weren't going to lose sleep over it (or... nuff said)

I assume it will now also soon come to PowerTracks(?)

After re-reading this thread, I don't see that this feature is in BIAB, only the newest build of RealBand. Is that correct or am I missing something?

It is hopeful news of course.

Matt, I concur.
The latest release of BiaB is 437 and I don't believe it has those new features.
However, it could be available in a forthcoming release.

Yeah, I'm not sure what the excitement is about! Does not seem like any of this has been officially announced or released. A thread from April gets revived and all of a sudden everyone is standing around slapping backs and shaking hands! laugh

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
