Have done a complete re-install of windows 10 after their [*****] ups.
Main problem now is that I can't record ANY streaming audio from you tube or any other source. I use that mainly for making jingles for my radio shows.
My interface is a behringer UMC04HD usb, which worked fine until the mess with windows started.
It'll record ok using a mike. I've tried in 3 different audio programmes, Sound forge 10, Adobe Audition 3 and Audacity.
My guess is that it's a windows problem as there's no movement in the VU meters when I try to record.
Windows DOES see the UMC204, but nothing happens.

Check the Windows mixer (easily accessed through the little speaker icon in the lower right). Possibly Mute got turned on.

Graham, the only way that I can record streaming audio in Win 10 with Audacity was to use WASAPI drivers. Nothing else worked for me. Did you try changing drivers?

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

had a look in Windows volume mixer control. It's showing up as a recording device, but there's no signal getting to the meter.
I havn't changed any of the settings or moved cables, everything's exactly the same as it was before the anniversary update, so what's goin on ???????

Perhaps a Windows update.

You're sure the recording section of the Windows mixer is ok?

Hit Properties from the Recording Device (Windows Volume Mixer) and go to the Advanced tab. Make sure your bit rate and sampling rate are set to what you need for recording. Windows may have reverted to the basic 16 bit, 44.1 KHz on update. I usually am set at 96 KHz, etc....

Go through all the other properties tabs there and check your settings.

Had gone back to 16 right enough, however, on adobe audition it's showing up as not connected making me think it's a driver issue

OK. You checked the Behringer site for updated drivers, and if they have a forum, other people's problems?

"I can't record ANY streaming audio from you tube or any other source. I use that mainly for making jingles for my radio shows."

It is easier to just download the youtube videos https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/download-youtube/

There are sites also that you just put the youtube link in and it will let you download as mp4 or mp3.
Just google download youtube video or download youtube video as mp3.

If you are doing radio shows you should have VoiceMeeter Banana http://vb-audio.pagesperso-orange.fr/Voicemeeter/banana.htm
it will also record streams.

You can set Audition to Voicemeeter ASIO AUX another app to Voicemeeter ASIO, hardware Mic in, and set the output to your audio device, this will mix all your sources.

Any further update on this topic? I've encountered the same problem and until now nothing helps to work it out. I'm not an advanced user like you guys but simply record some raw narrated video footage with audio by using a screencasting app called RecMaster...

Haha, I have to laugh at this because I used to think that too. Not an advanced user, all I want to do is...

If you're working with audio and video you're an advanced user by definition. Keep reading until the light goes on in your brain and then you can explain it to others. This stuff is not intuitive or easy, audio and video lives in their own little world.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
