Hello PG Forums,

Came across this experiment today, it shows how sound can influence physical matter. Very interesting! Seen below:

That was very interesting.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

There is a physical connection from the hose to the speaker. So the membrane vibrates the the water outlet. Everything else is "distortion". Use a different number of frames per second and you need other frequencies for the same effects.

(Somewhere in this forum this same video was discussed a couple of years ago.)

there is also a relationship between the frequency and the frame rate of the camera. When the frames per second match the sonic frequency, the water appears to stop... but its actually just being captured at the same location in the wave...

or somethin' like that.

Here's another interesting experiment that shows a relationship between vibration and physical patterns...

I hope everyone reading this understands that the stream is not bent. It is merely the frame rate of the videography closely aligning with the "wag" rate of the speaker. It makes for an interesting visual effect, but there is no bending of the stream as the visual effect implies.

The stream is not bent, yes, but the end of the hose is at a different position for each frame. The hose is taped to the speaker cone.

As I wrote above, this was discussed some time ago (2013):

Yes, this is not the first thread this was posted in. I didn't have the energy to retune all of the explanation I gave in that earlier thread.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
