Build 148 is not released yet - is in "pre-release" for a few testers. But, yes, it fixes the slow drawing issues on Sierra, and should be released as a free patch within a week.

btw) the issue was due to the speed of some Mac API graphic routines inexplicably getting slower on Sierra. We can avoid using those routines.

Have Fun!

Hi Alyssa,

I have the same problem with my iMac and Sierra.

I've had my Mac checked out, I've done all the reinstall stuff.
The Mac performs well with no problems and no programs not native to the Sierra OS loaded.

As soon as I start loading BIAB the finder starts acting up and the beach ball swirls and swirls away unpredictably and the finder crashes.

I bought 2016 Audiophile and updated to 2017 recently.

When I am in the actual program (BIAB) it works well.
When I come out of it, the same problems with finder and drag drop functions etc occur.

I've done all the updates, latest OS etc but the problem remains.

I wonder, when you mention not enough memory?
I have BIAB running with the DD external configuration, so it's only got a couple of Gig on the Mac hard drive used by the actual BIAB program on the Mac hard drive.

The Mac has (as I mentioned) no other programs not native to it.
There's 4 gig of RAM so is that enough or not?

I have contacted technical support with the Mac specs and received one reply two days later which I replied to. I haven't received another reply after a couple of days so I'm still baffled with this stuff as I am a Newby to BIAB.

Having had my bigtime Mac specialist buddy assure me it's not the Mac, I am wondering whether it has something to do with the order I installed it.
Anyway, tonight I am going to thoroughly read through the manual and try and install it again.

It's about the tenth time lol

Please let me know if you or anybody else has any suggestions to resolve the issue.
I am convinced after only a short time using BIAB that it has to be the number one resource for a songwriter to use in recording their Pro sounding demos and indeed Pro songs.

It also seems that it won't export separate tracks to Logic Pro X but that's a different subject. I can (or could) export them one at a time successfully a while ago before these issues started.

Many thanks, Jules

Hello again,

After a little techno help from the long suffering Deryk, I've now been successful installing 2016 Audiophile and the Mac hasn't slowed.

1 I deleted all folder of BIAB off my mac HD.

2 I opened up the BIAB HD and clicked on the install pretty box.

3 I then went to the APPLICATIONS folder and dropped THAT identical looking program icon into the dock NOT the one that's still visible after you have run the pretty setup box!

Being able to see an identical program icon sat near the setup box made me think that I was 'triggering the right icon' when I hit it because it WILL start the program - but then you hit all those confusing 'this is missing' boxes that make you totally confused... If you are there it's because you hit the wrong icon!

I only did it 50 or 60 times anyway lol..

So you install from setup in the external BIAB HD, BUT you then have to go to the Applications folder/BIAB/icon visible on that drive, and drop THAT icon on the dock to trigger the actual program. (or it will do it where it is).

After that the program starts and you will just have to insert your registration numbers when asked and you are away - AND the Mac aint creaking!.
At least mine isn't anyway.

That's my hard earned knowledge so far for a newly anyway.
BTW I managed to get the wrong email address as my moniker on here - Can anybody tell me how to change it? It's not even my right email address either.

Jules

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
